    MLP: TNG

I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

    Revisiting the Final Season

A few months ago, I rewatched Season 9, and I liked it even better than the first time I saw it. There were still two episodes that I didn't care for: “3, 2, 1, Greaaat” and “Trivial Pursuit.” With both of those episodes, I went into them with the mindset that I would skip to the next episode when they started to annoy me. I only made it a few minutes into each episode.

    Bereavement

It's been awhile since I've posted any updates. Things happened one after another to make me lose interest in multicolored ponies. First the show ended, and then real world problems started happening. Then came the worst case scenario – I lost my father in February of this year.

    Random update

I haven't been on this site as much as I use to because of real life distractions. Not all of the distractions have been good, but the good ones are truly amazing.

Pony Life is a regression to Season One

Maybe it's just because the MLP stop-motion shorts lowered my expectations, but so far I think Pony Life is okay. I wouldn't call it good, but at least it doesn't directly insult older fans the way Thundercats Roar does (or so I've heard). I enjoy Pony Life's animation style enough to recommend watching five minutes of it. Plus, there is actual dialog spoken by the same VA's from FiM, and they

I had posted a summary for the “Earth Ponies Are Overpowered” sequel eons ago, but I've changed the plan quite a bit since then. So, here is the current summary:

As Twilight and Applejack work to improve their life infusion treatment, Maud stops by to offer her expertise. Little does Twilight realize that Maud is sabotaging her project. Pinkie has an inkling, but by the time she works up the nerve to stop her favorite sister, it may be to late to prevent disaster.

An earlier version of the summary ended with the question: “Who will save the day, and who will be the next to ascend to alicornhood?” But after giving it some thought, I remembered that questions in story summaries usually come across as amateurish, and rarely add anything of substance. There are a few exceptions that can work, such as a well-placed, ironic “What could go wrong?” But generally, questions are best avoided in summaries.

Anyway, I've written over 14,000 words of the sequel, which I'm calling “Earth Ponies Are Blessed With Suck” unless I decide that this doesn't fit the tone of the finished story. It feels like I've turned a corner, because I've finally gotten to the meat of the plot – namely, Maud's involvement. I've got a great deal to work with and I think it will be just as difficult to edit this fic as it has been to write the first draft. But I'll get there.

:pinkiehappy: This sounds better and better the more I hear about it.

Woah! Plottwist! :pinkiegasp:

Gosh, now I can't help but wonder what Maud's reasons could possibly be to stop ponies from, you know, achieving functional immortality. :applejackconfused:

...Wait, is it an ecological thing? Like, if everypony's trying to be immortal, the world itself will die, or something? :rainbowhuh:

Maybe there are much larger consequences to it then they realize and she is the only one who knows because of her ability to talk to rock which are older then the princesses, something like that might of happened before and no pony or other creature will believe her

Then my summary did its job.

You're not too far off the mark with Maud's motivation.

I haven't figured out if Maud can talk to rocks the way Fluttershy talks to animals, or if she just uses her Maud Sense to determine things about the planet such as how stable or unstable it is, whether it is thriving or decaying, and other aspects. But she definitely understands that there are consequences to life infusion that Twilight hasn't thought of.
