Updated with new chapter: 3, 8 -- "Silence"

In the last chapter Applejack and Rainbow totally crashed while wondering what to do with Derpy, who wasn't in good shape and asleep acting drunk in the Apple family's guest bedroom. Also sick. Seeing as something awful had happened, something indirectly related to work... being Derpy's boss, Rainbow was aware she might have to do something unpleasant, whereas Applejack preferred more gentle consignment to the idea that maybe their little grey friend was screwed in more ways than one.

This chapter... takes a small, quiet glance into Derpy's past.

Whew! it's been a while, hasn't it?

This one gave me a bit of trouble. I found everything feeling way too mechanical and in places boring, not in terms of the plot or pacing. There's a lot of descriptions of what Derpy's seeing in a very ordinary activity, which would be new to her as a filly, especially given her history. I spent a good amount of time editing it, changing and rearranging stuff, rereading the final version a few times before posting it. Did one final sweep for errors, and, welp... let's just say I hope everything is smooth

Any writers out there want to give me a critique or a few pointers on this one, either in the comments or private notes (preferably notes, as that way it's easier to discuss stuff), it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd also say I've been going through moderate depression for the past few months. Between the fatalism in the fandom involving certain pieces of news which have been circulating for a while, and plenty of RL stuff, I think I just kinda had enough for a bit. World keeps on turning, though.
