Flight of Firefly - Part 13 will be launched this weekend · 3:31pm Jan 23rd, 2019
Tentatively titled "Cavern Clash", which should give some clue as to its contents, it currently stands at 5200 words and climbing; I suspect it will be at around 8k when all is said and done. As I started into it, I realized I had yet to address a nagging question leftover from the first book--namely, what happened to the two Ravens captured at Epsilon the evening before the war? You know, the pair that had pursued the changeling spy who was trying to deliver the stolen war plans? This chapter will provide a surprising answer, as well as Gavian's account of his first true time in combat. How will he do? Let's just say he developed his own special attack, one that draws its inspiration from both a game and an anime...
The Climactic Battle for Epsilon will feature many different perspectives, including three not heard from in this story yet. Gavian is one. The others... I'll leave a surprise. However, this chapter will only focus on one side of the battle as the gryphons have their own plan to take down Epsilon quickly and cheaply; one that does indeed catch the ponies off-guard. You'll learn what that is in the coming chapter.
I intend to finish the chapter draft in the next couple days, and have it to prereaders by this weekend with a projected Sunday launch. No maps this time, sorry, simply because the coming battle is a bit too chaotic for it.
!!!
I had a storm of updated stories I was flipping between, and just restarted this story last night so I should be caught up by the weekend. The maps definitely seem to be a bunch of hard work I wasn't really expecting, and they look fantastic.

Very glad to hear it! The maps are indeed difficult and time-consuming, but they’re worth it for the detail they provide. I eventually plan to go back and make some additional ones for earlier battles, if I can ever find the time and motivation to do so.
Hope you’ve enjoyed the story so far! Probably be fifteen chapters just to finish off the first day of war!
