    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I NEW YEAR
Let's get the year started off nice and weird, with Kyary.

I did not mean to blow your mind, but that sh!t happens… all the time~! Follow me past the jump.

As usual, I start off with an apology: "Annie" still isn't ready to go. The holidays just kind of slammed me. That plus teaching myself how to subtitle detracted from actually editing the second half of my story. Tweaking words is what I feel I do best, but sometimes it gets tedious, especially when you've got a story whose oldest parts were created over three years ago, though 80% is less than a year old.

Post-Posting Addendum: I finally decided to work, albeit briefly, on Octavia's Burrito story. I thought I had made it further into the story than I actually had. As of now, I am partway through her inner monologue. No song references yet. I'm not used to writing 'Tavi, even though she's one of my favourite characters, so I'm trying to weave a delicate thread between her foul mood and her realizing the negative qualities about herself and trying to address it… only for plot events to leave her even more pissed off. And, although I don't want to force it if the story doesn't allow for it, I ship ScratchTavia so hard.

Tomorrow, I am tasked with helping my mother take down Christmas. Thank god she didn't overdo it like she traditionally used to back when we lived at my dad's and had a dedicated storage room filled mostly with Christmas stuff. My place simply isn't big enough for that, but I do like how festive my front room looks and I'll be a little sad to see what stuff there is go.

My mother also bought a Victrola -- that's a record player -- and I retrieved some (but not all) of her old vinyl LP's from my dad's on Christmas Day. We have no idea where her other records are. It could be that cunt-wife threw them out, but I sort of doubt that. Anyway, the record player comes with a headphone jack, so mama needs headphones. Probably for the best since she's part deaf anyway, so anything she listens to has to be LOUD. It's a damn shame insurance doesn't cover hearing aids.

Meanwhile, my dad is currently on vacation. After near-death experiences last year, he decided he needed to fulfil more things on his bucket list, including visiting every US State -- he's been to more than I have and only had like five left. So he decided to visit New Jersey and Connecticut (we've been to every other state in New England). He left on a Saturday and is returning to Arkansas within the next two or three days. This is typical of my dad -- arrange a vacation to miss as few working days as possible. But when you're a small business owner (which he is), you gotta work your skillz to pay the billz.

I passed out after lunch today and had a dream. Many of my dreams play out like standard narratives. This marks the second time I've dreamt about 16-yr-old Japanese singer-songwriter Aiko Yamaide.

So, Aiko's in San Francisco, in an America that's beset by brownshirt mobs or something. She meets a journalist and his female companion who are reporting on the mobs and witnesses their assault on SF (hundreds of miles from their territory further inland; they wanted to make a statement and take some hostages). She's not able to make it across the Golden Gate Bridge to safety in Marin County and ends up captured and sent to jail. She spends time in shackles but, at the right moment, she slips her cuffs off and slits her captor's throat. The journalist takes her back "home" to her family (who are inexplicably also living in California) and she's back safe and sound. There was also a scene where the brownshirts used an exposed industrial fan on a Latino dude's chest because he wouldn't talk or something. Much blood.

Note that I've never been to California (except for changing planes at airports), and neither has Aiko.

Weird-ass dream. Thing is, the real Aiko is a huge fan of Leon: The Professional (I like the film too) and dressed as Natalie Portman's character Mathilda this past Halloween. Part of me thinks she'd be amused that someone somehow envisioned her in a sort of Mathilda role.

Well, this went on several minutes longer than it was meant to, but I just wanted to get some word-barf out there to prove that I am, for now, still alive.

Peace out.

I've been enjoying Annie a lot so far. :O Just haven't had a ton of motivation to do well thought out reviews. I'll try to go back through them and do what I can. I've also been busy lately with a bunch of friends, primarily roleplay. Things have been getting good in a lot of areas.

Sorry you gotta take down Christmas decorations. My Dad hates that time of year, it always leaves him in a depressed funk. Hope your Dad will be okay on his travels. :O

My Mom got hearing aids awhile back too btw, but she doesn't wear them anymore solely due to how much her ears drain and stuff gets clogged in... Pipes or w/e.
