And a Merry Christmas to All You Guys! · 7:05pm Dec 25th, 2018
I'm here to ramble. Haven't had one of my ramblings in a while, huh?
So, we had our Christmas Eve family party last night; had a fairly normal dinner, got to see a cousin's little baby (he smiled at me and it was adorable!) and showed the older brother around and let him play with a few toys we still have. Had our Christmas musical program where people show off their talents (like both my sisters with the violin and oboe respectively, and my mom on the piano), and then I arranged a Nativity scene (that I narrated) with several makeshift costumes and a polar bear as baby Jesus, since the of the two actual babies there, the little one was busy having dinner and the other one was a squirmy one-year-old who wouldn't have stayed still to play the part, so... "Bear-by Jesus" it was. It was hard to keep a straight face when the cousin-in-law playing Joseph was singing a lullaby to it.
We also played the gift exchange game with all the presents in the middle and each person either unwraps a random one or steals it from another person. One cousin had the misfortune of having nearly everything he unwrapped stolen, which was about five times, and then ended up with the gag gift (some random, off-the-wall candy my mom, sisters, and I buy from this one ice cream place--examples include bacon-flavored candy, a lollipop with a bug in it, a poop emoji lollipop, etc.). This year, it was gummies that were booger-themed, and he spent the rest of the game trying to get rid of it (he eventually did after the game, when our shared cousins decided to prank their brother and sister-in-law with it).
Christmas morning, I got a new robe (it's so fluffy!), a neck warmer, a chicken toy (a little ball you put food in and roll into the coop to let them figure out how to get the food), a toy chicken, a book my mom put together about my drawing through the years, a calender, a windshield... shield, a light for when I go out to put the chickens to bed, a magnet about how "sisters are the best friends", and a Nativity set (give me a thing I'm not gonna use until next Christmastime... okay...).
So, yeah, that's my loot. What's yours?
A thing I wish I could have worked on earlier but didn't because I'm not so great at scheduling personal projects in my free time...
A Christmas Story, but with a young Cheese Sandwich. Can you just imagine it?
"I want a party cannon!" :D
"No, Cheese, you'll shoot your eye out."
And all the gags that involve that line (the essay, Santa pushing him down the slide...)
*poor Tomato, all bundled up in way too much winter gear to the point where he's as helpless as an upside-down turtle when he falls over*
*poor Cheese in the bunny pajamas*
"Oh, feta!" (Except he didn't say feta)
*and then he has to put soap in his mouth*
And since it fits too perfectly for his (younger) character, Tomato would be the one getting his tongue stuck on the flagpole instead of (insert some kid to be Cheese's friend here). Of course, this version would probably have Cheese trying to pull him off to no avail, and the fire department has to get him instead.
...not sure about the leg lamp.
Man, I wish I would have drawn all that earlier, that would have been fun.
And finally, here's a couple of pieces of art I managed to whip up:
And this is the story of the time that Sugar Surprise accidentally set the house on fire.
After quite a bit of teasing for the last few years, they finally have that mistletoe kiss.
And again I say... Merry Christmas, everyone! :D
Sorry for not finishing the Our Town Hearth's Warming fic... again...
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Sounds like you had a blast narrating the nativity. I'm imagining Spike when he narrates the Hearth's Warming Story.
Merry Christmas!
A Cheese Sandwich version of A Christmas Story would be great--it fits so perfectly!
"A party cannon with this thing that shoots confetti...sheer poetry! A-plus-plus-plus-plus-plus...!"
My loot...let's see. A few books, a new blanket, a couple stuffed animals, a nail file, some makeup brushes, a bucket with some cloths and sponges (courtesy of my brother and his not-so-subtle hints to clean the car), a folder, a shirt and hoodie, a couple scented candles (one milk, one flowers), a gift card, a scrunchie, and a new toothbrush, give or take a couple things.
I've done a lot of things, but setting fire to the house is not one of them. Hopefully Cheese has one of those water flower things lying around in his hammerspace.
