Subnautica, free on Epic Store · 2:25pm Dec 16th, 2018

If you don't own this, get it. Best survival game ever made, hands down.

Why? It actually not only has a story, but its got a good story, and you don't (quite) have the metabolism of a field-mouse with an over-active thyroid. Both problems otherwise endemic to the genera.

Also, very, very purdy~

(Note: I'd honestly recommend going in completely blind. The whole crashed on an alien ocean planet and needing to explore it to survive is one of the game's biggest strengths. But hey, if even one of you more downloads this because of the trailer...)

Available through the Fortnight Epic Store until 'the Holidays,' so go nab it ASAP if you don't own it already. You will NOT regret it.

Also, for those already owning Subnautica? There's a stand-alone expansion coming to early access next year called Subnautica: Sub Zero. Just a heads up, if you hadn't heard already.

Edit: Oh, and thanks to user Keris for reminding me. Nearly slipped my mind since I already own this game on Steam.

Anyone getting this, for god's sake install on an SSD, the pop-in is atrocious on Hard Drive.

Eh, the pop-in's gotten at least a bit better since early access. Load-times, too.

Still, if you've got an SSD with enough space, by all means. There's really no denying that Subnautica can be a bit of a resource-hog in the busier areas, and every little bit helps.

They definitely have gotten better but the Mushroom Forest is still ridiculous. Interestingly, rumors are that there's gonna be a major update to improve it when the XBox version exits EA.

If you dont have it you neeeed it! Its an amazing game, and despite being terrified of water (legit sat two hours above the water before forcing myself into the water) I still had a blast

*Whistles.*

Recently watched somebody with an deep ocean-phobia let's play Subnautica, actually. But he didn't have it nearly that bad even in the Shallows.

Good on you for pushing on.
