Man, there's a lot going on right now, isn't there?
For one, if you haven't been obsessively watching your notifications or whatever, I just dropped another chapter of Absinthe Makes the Heart Go Yonder. I had entirely too much fun making Sentry behave like an ass (he makes Derpy cry!), perhaps in subconscious response to the 'Sentry isn't as bad as he says he is' sentiment building up in the Flash Sentry Papers' minuscule fanbase.
But! Who cares about that? As it's October 30! The holiday season! You know, Chris-- wait, what?
Yes, we got a Crimmus special. In October. Other folks have weighed in already, but damn if it isn't good. Admittedly, I've only watched like half of S8, but the special was entirely too fun. The extended running time left ample opportunity for all kinds of gags and storylines, plus the focus on the mane 6 (not to mention the barrage of background/fandom gags) made it super fun. Not to mention STORM SHADOW NINJA DASH. I will write a fanfic about this. At ... some point.
As right now, November looms close-- which means National Write a Novel Month! I'm gonna give a go at it yet again this year, and I imagine I will fail terribly. Yet again. Though I may cheat and try to make it 'National Write a Novella Month' or something. Write only 25k words. I ... at least have a high concept idea to work with (think "Fantasyland + Gundam") aaaand the protagonist will likely be a snarky scoundrel along the lines of Flash Sentry, so at least I'll have the voicing down. It's still likely doomed to failure, but hey, should be a nice change of pace!
Which, sadly, also means Absinthe Makes the Heart Go Yonder will be on a sliiiight hiatus, at least until I give up on my NaNoWriMo and turn back to writing silly pony stories to make myself feel better. Ehehm.
So yeah. That's at least what I've got lined up so far. Though stay tuned, as tomorrow, I'll be featuring a book for an extra-brutal entry in the TUMBLEWEED BOOK KLUB. Because Halloween, of course.
The timing of Best Gift Ever isn't all that surprising. After all, Oct 31 = Dec 25.
