Life of Twi - Chapter 2 Progress Update · 4:21am Oct 15th, 2018
Sorry it's taking so long to get chapter two out. After I had to hand my school-provided Chromebook in, I couldn't get any writing done until I got a new computer. By the time I did get one I went through some pretty bad writer's block. I'm sort of coming out of the phase now, but note progress will be slow. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to finish the chapter before the end of the month. So, to those looking forward to it, here is an early version of the draft.
“Hello, welcome to Jolly Jolly’s Daycare for Children Ages three and up, now accepting children eight and up! I’m Jolly Jolly and I’ll be looking over any children you’ll be neglecting for the next few hours! Is this your child?”
We had entered into a small white foyer and rang a buzzer. The mare wore a device around her neck with a blinking red light in the center. I assumed it would start going off whenever someone rang.
“Um…” Cadence began. “No. I’m her babysitter. I was just dropping her off before I caught the train to Trottingham.”
“Ah, so a deserter, I understand. Come on in!” Jolly Jolly chimed.
She held the door open for us and immediately a blast of chaos hit us. The room was filled with noise -- if that’s a good adjective to describe the constant screaming of children, the banters being made by group of friends, the fillies running left and right dodging a foal trying to tag them, foals holding their legs out ominously to trip any passerbys, etc.
The moment we in the room was the moment I found Discord’s safe-haven. On the right side, there was a wooden sign dangling by a thread being supported by the ceiling tiles that read “THE BUILDING BLOCK ZONE: CLEAN UP WHAT YOU TAKE OUT”. Underneath it, the entire zone was a wasteland of building blocks. A filly sat in a corner trying to shove a few pieces up her nose, a foal was building an entire fortress around himself using pillows as a base, there was another filly crying over her spilled tower.
On the left side of the room hung a similar wooden sign dangling from the ceiling tiles that read “CAFETERIA”, which wasn’t much of on. There were only three tables and each of them a sloppy mess. Scrambled eggs scattered all over the surface, toast oversaturated with butter in places where they shouldn’t be, like someone’s chair, foals on a “seafood diet”, a filly crying over her spilled milk.
On the other side of the room was an entire play area. No sign dangled over it, but I knew it was a play area because there were several toys scattered all over the floor, a wardrobe so that the other kids could play dress up, an entire bookshelf lined with so many titles, a movie projector sitting in the corner (I assumed the screen was rolled up somewhere), a foal was running around with a jar labeled “TEARS”, which I assumed he was going to prank some filly with by making them think it was real. The foal tripped and dropped the jar, then he started crying over his spilled TEARS.
“As you can see the children are very well behaved!” Jolly Jolly gestured towards the entire room full of chaos.
“I’ll take your word on it.” Cadence replied with clear confliction in her voice.
Other Stuff:
My illustrator went ghost on me, so it's going to be a while until I can find another artist.
The original ending to chapter one will be written. I read a decent portion of it earlier today and realized how lacking it was.
More Twi to come in the future!
