Where Things Are At · 12:20am Sep 16th, 2018
With how long its been since I've released an update, I thought I'd explain where things are at in the state of my writing. I'm currently torn between t. DragonFeather, an group RPG session I run (Mutants & Masterminds for those curious), a original universe that I've been pouring worldbuilding into for months and will possibly be my first shot at a webcomic or published work, and school because boy, did I thought not having to do math classes anymore would be a simply solution. It was, though, in the end. I'm in a much better place now schedule wise and to be honest, I don't know how to cope with it yet. But my new degree path is rather taxing on the creative end as designing narratives is part of the curriculum. And I just haven't had the time to figure out DragonFeather yet, let alone any of my other side stories which have been woefully neglected.
The following contains spoiler meta narrative discussion of DragonFeather.
You see, of the Four Shepherds series I'm currently writing, and yes I do intend to finish it someday, DragonFeather is proving to be the most difficult because it was the one that had the least amount of thought put into it. That's not to say there was little thought to begin with, quite far as I had a great deal of excitement for it and the events it would establish in the greater scope of the series. But simply put, many other narrative choices drew my attention more so, and DragonFeather was sort of left pegged as this gap between the more worked out part of the series. And here I am, writing it now. Well, here's the latest news.
I have roughly 80% of the story mapped out. The remaining 20% is what's given me the issue because I'm stuck with a few dilemmas. I don't know how many people are aware of the term 'rationalist fics', but with my crude explanation of the phrase, they are generally fics that have characters act in very logical ways that outsmart less rationally minded characters. I don't want my character's to be rationalists in the most extreme sense, but I want their actions and choices that lead to events to be within character rather than being puppet-ed by some conceptional moral law. And of course, with Gale being the most unpredictable Shepherd among the group, the ending of this story hasn't been decided. The setting is placed, but I haven't figured out the final details despite having created quite a few that I'm having difficulty choosing between from. But some recent inspiration came in that helped flesh out one of the more finer subnarrative issues I'm working on, and I believe that will help out.
With that said, I'll be spending some more time working out the remaining issues with DragonFeather, and I hope to get the next chapter out when as expediently as I can manage it. Thank you everyone for everything that has lead to the story reaching this point, your support during my beginning writings has helped me immensely, and I thank again for the patience.
Hey, hey! You are alive after all take your time, "someday" is good enough for me
Because of the superb quality of the first story I am happy to wait for you to work out what you need to work out.
