Reading Format For My Stories. · 6:26pm Jul 19th, 2018
Hello, dear reader!... Or passerby, whichever!
Here is something I wish to discuss. In my story, I write like so.
"Hello, Captain." I say.
"Hello, Generic Bob." The captain replies with a smile.
"Lovely day, isn't it?"
"It is."
"Yeah, anyway, was wondering if I could borrow some sugar?" What did I just say?
Here is the thing. Some people call this format uncomfortable due to the spaces between lines, paragraphs, etc.
Thing is, I wrote in this way to make it more comfortable to read? Because, I know it can be a bit easy to get lost in dialogue.
Take note of this part in particular.
"Lovely day, isn't it?"
"It is."
In this case, my format is more comfortable because I don't write who said the line. So it is easier to follow, or so I think. Now, I have no problem of going back and editing all the chapters so they look generic, like so:
"Lovely day, isn't it?"
"It is."
BUT. I have o do this before I get too far into the story, because I will be too lazy to turn back then and re-do a bajillion chapters because of this, plus: yeah.
Now, these may be only two lines together, but sometimes, I do not add any action for more than a couple lines, so there is only dialogue so the story doesn't take up too much space, but I try to balance.
In any case, please comment down below on which format YOU preffer, would like to read and/or suggest to me. But please don't be like... "Whichever is most comfortable with you, dude, just go for what you think is best." Look, if I knew what was best, I wouldn't be making this post, m'kay?
Now have a good one, you lovelies. See you in the next chapter and the comment section. It's coming soon. Hopefully. I am working on two, soo.... Yah. Having a few issues in that and RL. Don't worry tho'.

Personally, I like when there is space between the lines. To me it's more comfortable to read. It hurts my eyes a little when they are right next to each other. Just my opinion.

Fair enough. But the complaint was that it is uncomfortable because it takes a while to move your eyes and I agree that sometimes the effect of the scene can be lost, but I try my best to not let that happen.
Not sure if you've realized this, but FiMFiction allows users to choose their own line-spacing, which can make it odd if writers try to subvert that...

I might have to look into that sometime if it is what I think it is. Thank you.
