    April, with many a day…

So I just spent from the third through today (sort of, still have some driving to do) on holiday. Went to Dallas to see the Eclipse in totality, swung though Hot Springs for… well, the hot springs, and finally St Louis for a lovely riverboat dinner before bidding the Boyfriend farewell and starting the trip home.

    Well, I started it...

All Good Things... has commenced. I may have a chapter of it up tonight.

I really want to start closing out the unfinished stories, but sometimes you just can't get back into the flow for them. Sorceress and the Siren is one, Into the Wilds is another. Which is sad cause I love writing Azure.

    Homecoming, in retrospect.

Homecoming as a series is a glorious mess. I’ve gone on short bits of fluff, created some … unique ships, twisted the fabric of canon EqG, and even touched on some dark topics.

    Don't you just hate it...

When you can't find something when you need to?

Case in point, I went looking for a comment where they alluded to It being like Frodo saving the Shire for everyone but himself and had to sail to another land to find solace.

But I can't remember what fic or anything else.

    And it's frustrating to me.

    Meanwhile, in other news...

    For those wondering....

    I am working on Truth.

“What are you doing here?” Sunset stammered as she gazed at her father. Emotions swirled inside of her, a maelstrom of feelings. Confusion, certainly. Some anger, long-simmered and cooled into bitterness. A bit of joy, but just a tiny bit.

    Mostly confusion though.

Red rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s a long story,” he hedged.

Come Alive · 11:01am Jul 17th, 2018

So last night I finally sat down and watched most of The Greatest Showman with some friends (stuff happened and I had to duck out early. I will be purchasing it though) and there are a number of things that are rather true from this tale.

1: P.T. Barnum says that the noblest art is that of making others happy. This is pretty true of us authors here. We write because we want to. Because we have a story to tell. Because we want to entertain readers and possibly make you smile. Not matter if it’s a sweet romantic moment from something like The Wooing of Sunset Shimmer or triumphant victory from The Enchanted Library or just plain fun from My Kind of Crazy, that’s all we want. To make you happy for a while.

2: Fiction is an art in and of itself, and good fiction is a labor of love with lots of ups and downs. Look at your shelves, both physical and here. The ones you saved all have a resonance with you. Each of them were something that people took the time to flesh out. Some even took the time to read and offer suggestions before anyone else saw it. We may not be as flashy as visual art, but we sure can inspire it.

3: We dream with our eyes wide open. Now, this doesn’t mean we’re blind to reality. Far from it, as there are topics in my stories and others that come from having them happen like titling issues, chance meetings leading to great friendships and such, and even conflicts like disagreements or hidden pain. Those among us that can make you feel the sting of heartache or the adrenaline rush of action are true masters of storytelling - a height I aspire to.

Barnum’s story can be seen as the true power of belief and self-confidence. Of what you can build if you give it your all and never look back, trusting that you can deal with whatever gets thrown at you.

Now, putting seriousness aside momentarily, of all the things this movie has, the music is great as well. “The Greatest Show”, “The Other Side”, and “Come Alive” and perhaps my favorite from the movie. And they all can be applied to MLP without a lot of twisting. “Come Alive” could certainly be heard being done by the Rainbooms, I feel.

As I said earlier, P.T. Barnum has said “The noblest art is that of making others happy.”

And that’s what we try to do.

Enjoy yourselves!

Maybe you had to duck out before hearing 'This is Me'. Only reason I can think of why you wouldn't mention it. Was definately my favourite song from the movie.

Sadly, yeah. I’ve got it set up to watch later on this month but right now it’s pretty well unfinished.
