    Yes I am alive

Sorry I've been so absent as of late. My new project kinda absorbed me a bit :twilightsheepish: Actually, for the past year ever since I decided to write a Warriors fanfiction I couldn't really think about much else as far as writing is concerned, even right now.

    It's been 10 years!

Yeah, it's been 10 years since I've made an account on this website and published the first two chapters of Rebirth of the Damned, my first story (you can't tell now because back then when you would edit chapters and save them then it would overwrite the date of publication).

Should I change my main? · 1:35am Jul 14th, 2018

Yeah, so before I talk about the question presented in the title, a little update on Rebirth of the Damned and my writing pace.

Those of you who checked my last blog - probably not a lot, as I tagged there and talked about another story of mine - and a few before that know that I had decided to focus on Infinite Potential for a bit, as I hoped to finish this first arc this year. However, my working schedule had cuntinued to demand more and more of my time, causing me problems to keep on a steady writing pace. In any case, the next chapter for Infinite Potential will be soon(-ish) finished, and I will write a few chapters for Rebirth of the Damned next (with one or two Stars in the Making's chapter throw in between as well). I'm sorry about the delay :ajsleepy:

Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me ask you this: should I change my main character in WoW?

I've recently began to seriously wonder about it. As you might know, next expansion is coming out soon, and the pre-patch for it is actually coming out next week. As such, those are our last moments to get stuff like Mage Tower artifact appearance and Ahead of the Curve: Argus achievement (and by extension the Violet Spellwing mount). Well, I had the Mage Tower artifact appearance for a while know, on two characters, my main (night elf balance druid) and my main alt (troll beast master hunter), and since I don't really like the apparances for some of my other primary alts (demonology warlock, retribution paladin, frost death knight), I don't think I'd wanna bother about getting those. So instead I focused on killing Argus on heroic. Had to do this in a weekend, as I don't have good internet out on delegation and I get to go back home only for a weekend every two weeks. So two weeks ago I spend 80% of my time trying to do that, and... I kept failing on my main. Group would either fell apart, or I would get tired from dying over and over, and in two cases I even got kicked out, one time even because the guy claimed that I don't have high enough dps (the other that I died too many times due to my mistakes, which wasn't true, those were OTHER people's mistakes that got me killed). So, on Sunday, a few hour before I would have to leave, I gave up.

And in the next two hours I got it on my alt.

Now, I know that it there are a lot of factors when it comes to killing a boss. Maybe the group was better, maybe they had a lot of high geared people, or maybe there weren't any idiots who can't follow simple directions. It certainly wasn't' just the matter of me playing a different character. But... the fact is that I do play better on my hunter than on my druid. I do higher dps, am more mobile, and hell, it's not just PvE, I am also actually good on PvP on my hunter! (to those who remember me mentioning that I don't really do PvP often I explain that I am doing random battlegrounds to get the PvP artifact appearance.) On my druid, not so much.

So, I play hunter better. And I enjoy playing it. I adore my pets; I primarly use Loque'nahak that I renamed into Oakheart - as it fits him surprisingly well considering the whole distance from his mate *wink to Warriors' fans* - but also Gon, Lightning Paw named Ozymadias, Ben'thalos I named Pyrelight and Kurken.

I actually had tamed almost all the spirit beast pets, aside from the spectral gryphon I think (and manasabers, but their commoness makes them less appealing for me to consider them on the same level as the other spirit beasts), and many others^^

And I even like my hunter's appearance I made for him, with the Laughing Skull mask on, it looks amazing on troll.

Also, with this new expansion, the events will be more focused on the war between the two factions again, and there will be "militaristic" aspects of it, prime example being the warfronts. And my hunter seems more to fit all those militaristic side of WoW way better than my druid does, in my head at least :twilightsheepish:

So, yeah, maybe I should change him to be my main?

I still love my druid. I played him since I first started, back during Burning Crusade. It's the only character that I had played through all the old class quests (aside from epic flight form questline I think), and one of the two characters that I had played on since before Cataclysm (the other being my warlock, but sadly I only got him up to 40 - something before Cata, so didn't do several class quests like for infernals and such). I have a lot of fond memories of playing him, got a lot of exalted reputations on him, tons of quests, and so on... but it's not like I would delete him, and if I would want to change back I always could. So maybe I should try this new expansion with a new main?

However, there is one small problem. My main has to be Alliance. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mean that I don't like the Horde, or that it's worse. It's just that I like to identify with my main character, and the ideals and values of the Alliance are more align to those I try to follow in real life (or at least, try to follow in my head ;p). And before this turns into a war, I am not saying that Alliance is perfect, or that they aren't at times biggots and hippocrits. And I certainly am not saying (well, maybe jokingly) that Horde's ideals and values are bad or not worth to follow. But it's just my personal view.

(Another and: and before somebody tries to say that this personal view shows in Rebirth of the Damned sometimes, let me point out that this story is largely portrayed from Arthas' points of view, who before became part of the Scourge was part of the old Alliance; even after all that he has been through, he is bound to have a bit more sympathy for the Alliance.)

So yeah, I would have to buy that "change faction service". Since I have a steady work now, it's not that big of a problem, but it would make it a bit harder to swich back for me. And my troll hunter would stop being a troll; trolls are one of my favorite races in the game, and troll hunter with spirit beasts pets is just so lorewise perfect to me... I worry, if I go through with this, would I still enjoy playing this character as much?

Lastly, this creates a problem of which race I would change him to. As I understand, buying this service allows you to pick any race from the opposite faction, as long as your class can be of that race, right? Which in case of a hunter means EVERY race. I was thinking about night elf, but I I figure since I am changing my main I might as well play as a different race. Pondered void elfs, but meh, got an alt I want to raise to max level, don't really wanna have two of those (though it would be kinda fun to talk to blood elf players)... also, for "role playing" puproses, I prefer to be able to feel that I had done on this character everything. Lorewise, void elves just joined in. I want this to make sense in my head :twilightsheepish: So... the last two I considered were humans, and worgen. And I think I will go with worgen. I LOVE worgen, loved them ever since they were first announced as playable race. I really like werewolves and stuff (and I am a bit of a furry to boot :twilightblush:). And worgens are still technically humans, to so I would really get into the "feel" of the conflict in Battle for Azeroth between Alliance and the Horde, as humans are the core of the Alliance since day one. Heck, if I really were roleplaying, I could say stuff like "my character's father fought in the Second War" and it would be true! (If I played as human, meaning Stormwind human, then I could even say that he fought in First War, but meh, I like wolves more ;p). So... yeah, I think I would enjoy being a worgen beast master hunter^^

What do you guys think? Should I go through with it? I am only finishing up the whole PvP artifact look on this character, hadn't done it on the Horde side yet and I wanna get the medal from Warchief and all the other leaders. Once I do that, I will be free to change.

PS: What happens to hunter's pets if you change your faction? Anybody knows? Also, is there anything else I should know about faction change service before I'd go through with this?

I played on the alpha and beta and watch a couple online videos and most liked the changes to BM hunter feel good about it I really love the changes they made to fury Warrior.

As for your pets when you faction change I am 99% sure nothing happens

I know ppl who change mains after every balance patch and you have me who has never changed main. I believe Wow is made that you do change mains ever so often (they want you to spend more time playing it). No clue about pets but have never read anything about a problem with it. If you are faction changing be sure to change race according to what you want to focus on PVP or PVE.

I like having at least one of every class at max level, in case one gets a buff or a nerf. And now I making four new character to try and see what classes work best for the new races.

if they could port world of warcraft to console i'd try playing it but until then i'll have to settle for enjoying the lore and keeping my love of the lich king (i even have a 1:1 scale replica of frostmourne) i cant figure out how to post a picture here as proof but i bought it from amazon for $225 and though i dont remember how long the whole thing is it weighs at LEAST 60 to 70 pounds its fuckin heavy (its blunt too but that just make it a club instead of a sword)

Did you spoil yourself with "Before the Storm":D?

There aren't any faction specific pets so that shouldn't be a problem.
Some Mounts change if you switch factions and you have to replay some aspects of the game like the garrison in wod as far as I remember.

I play worgen hunter as well there were reasons I think mostly due to the starting zone seems like the area where hunts would occur regularly and watching lore apperently did happen a lot plus I got a bloodhound which I believe only a worgen hunter can get

Hunter sounds like a good choice and from what I've learned, besides beast mastery being mostly the same, the other two specs are changing for the better. Worgen is probably your best bet for this and I believe they're getting a model update later down the road as well. Also take note that Light Forged Dreanei can be hunters also so that would be an interesting path to take. Void elves you can role play that your character was a high elf or blood elf and then decided (or made a bad turn somewhere) to be a void elf. It's easier to make work than some of the races that were isolated from the world till legion.

As for AoTC, congrats for earning it. While it really isn't out of reach by any stretch if you have the time to look around for people who will just help you out because they want to, it's still something that feels good to get done. Let me tell you, raiding heroic in that raid just sucks, most of the bosses are just a chore to kill and the main reason I really came back to it at all was the people I raided with.

You can find them in Dragonblight aswell, they're called "Scarlet Onslaught Bloodhound". Something I only know becausr I recently leveled a hunter trough that zone. The Scarlet Crusaders have a camp nearby Naxxramas where you can get them.
