One of the questions I've had reading the Ashes series is, "What's happening in Alabama?" It finally got answered in Book 17. The Northern and Eastern parts are controlled by a white supremist warlord, Wink Payne. So, if I existed in this universe, I'd be subject to a guy named Wink? Sure.

I Went On Vacation and Missed Sunny's Mom?!

Camping along the Tennessee River is beautiful, but the weak phone connection has me feeling like Pipp Petals sometimes. Took me several days to finally get to watch "Written in the Starscouts".

So yeah, some headcanon theories got dashed. But hey, as long as the fandom gets a new MILF, that's all that matters, right? :derpytongue2:

"Rollercoaster of Friendship" Thoughts (SPOILERS) · 1:55am Jul 7th, 2018

After many days of conflicting reports of scheduling, the new EG special was aired earlier this afternoon. Finally got the link to it (https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ntvbf), so here's my ramblings on it...

1.) Cameos. Indigo Zapp and Sunny Flare serving as background humans. Yes. All my yes. At least we know Indigo's alive... or just back from vacation (whichever). Also, Rarity designed a Siren-form Adagio costume. I wish the real one could have been there to see it :rainbowlaugh:

2.) The shipping. If you're into RariJack, wow, you are a lucky son of a gun. They are just oozing shipping fuel in this... under the guise of "best friends" of course. And to a lesser extent, there's also some FlutterDash, which is adorable. Of course, Sci-Twi and Sunset going insane together thanks to a rigged Flim and Flam game was entertaining as well.

3.) This story pretty much represents my attitude toward social media to a T. Too superficial and a waste of time. If all you contribute to society is just a bunch of pictures of yourself/food and have millions of followers but no actual friends, that is the definition of "pathetic" as Vignette Valencia realized.

4.) The grimdark implications of Vignette's plan. Okay, at first when she began to suck up the Rainbooms into her phone, I was disappointed because it just seemed like a lazy repeat of Juniper Montage's mirror. However, I did laugh when it was revealed that the phone simply teleported them to a random white room. That was a clever twist. Then they hit you will the SQUISH CITY! scenario, and I'm like, :pinkiegasp: This is why I like Equestria Girls. They draw you in with cuteness and fluff, then they surprise you with the mental image of an entire crowd getting crushed and blood spraying everywhere :pinkiecrazy:

5.) Okay, I'll admit, as much as Vignette annoyed me... the "#Bangs" joke was pretty damn sexy :twilightblush:

So much shipping potential in this one. It almost looked like AJ and Rarity were going to kiss for a second there near the end when they were both apologizing. Its almost guaranteed that screenshots of this special will be used as covers for RariJack fics.

Eh., the "splat" part is the darkest you'll ever see EG go. Far be it from me to demand anything of the show, but sophisticated storytelling requires the Dark. There's no getting around it. And for as long as Hasbro refuses to advance the thought in this franchise, giggles and naive shipping fuel is all we'll be getting. And on that note, I don't and never will understand the shippers. What do they get out of fantasizing about Rarity and AJ kissing?

The shipping

I yelled 'FUCKING KISS!!' like six times. My dog hid under the desk because he thought I was mad, :applejackunsure:

That seems to be how Equestrian magic affects the unwary or unstable - It induces total psychosis to the point where you feel entitled to do whatever it takes to achieve some semblance of your personal goals. If it kills lots of people that literally doesn't matter because they shouldn't have got in your way.

It's terrifying when you think how totally without restraint the villains get when the magic really gets its hooks into their brains. Even the heroes have to take care lest they overdo it, as the short episode Overcharged proved quite adequately.

Re.: Shipping
Human Rarity is very obviously queer; the production team have made that quite clear to us. As far as I can tell, they've made Rarijack as canon as they can without explicitly saying it, mostly by using the same code-phrases and behaviours that they use with Lyra and Bonbon.

I thought it was an alright special. I still have two I rank above it but it was still entertaining. I wish they would have dialed back all the shipping fuel stuff (not a fan really). Though I do appreciate getting some good friendship material between Applejack and Rarity. Like I said before, if these two align with their pony counterparts then they've probably known each other a lot longer than any of the others so they'd definitely be close.

The humor was spot on. Rarity crying into a pile of cloths was golden as was Rainbow Dash panicking on the coaster while Fluttershy (and the old lady behind them) handled it like a boss. Sunset going crazy over that ring toss which I'm not sure if it was rigged or not. MVP goes to Pinkie Pie of course for that legit Fun Inspector badge and being the only one who realized that they were just in a white room and said nothing to the others.

The Vignette wins the award for most punchable villain. She now takes the bottom spot on my antagonist list.

I did get some shades of "The Mane Attraction" from this and it was nice to see an Applejack centered special. All in all I'd give this one a 3/5.

Also nice to see Indigo Zap back from wherever it is she was at. Hope to see her and the other Shadowbolts soon.

I liked it.

The comedy, good lord the comedy was just great. Sunset and the ring toss :rainbowlaugh:

They're liberals who want gay relationships shoved in everyone's face I guess.

Well, if there's that much shipping fuel I'm probably going to skip it.
