So... yeah it's going that's for sure. I haven't been writing much this last week besides listing events. I know what characters are going to sort of do, or I have a vague plan for most of them at this point. I've listed down specific events I want to happen in the story, but I still have a few things I need to figure out.
One, I need to figure out how I'm going to power scale all the characters especially Twilight.
Two, I need to develop proper magic rules for the universe I'm crafting; I've just finished reading The Immortal Game and I am definitely taking inspiration from that as well as Rights of Ascension. I may look at other Twilight stories like The Moonstone Cup for inspiration, but I'm also trying to make it unique and my own.
Third, the world map. I'm chucking most of the official cannon map and I'm coming up with one of my own original design. I do intend to keep parts that involve both the events of the MLP movie as well as starlights village and the Yaks, but other parts will be largely changed.
Four, Politics. I need to decide how the politics of the nations in this world are going to function and how Twilight is planning to rule Equestria.
Five, How the hell am I going to make it all work together!? Yeah still not sure about that one yet.
Anyway, I hope this gives some of you an idea and assurance that I'm not ditching this. I do want to make sure that this is my best work, and that you all will enjoy reading it.

I can think of something that might help: dump trying to scale other's powers to Twilight's level. It's both boring and doesn't feel needed.
Except maybe to pander to the boring people who demand it.
Besides that can't wait.

Well, I don't want Twilight to just curb stomp every obstacle she comes across. I want her to be challenged and I also need to consider other characters who will need to be able to keep up with her in some regard, maybe not in raw power or skill, but in a talent of another regard.
Making a power scale is HARD, I should know. I have a team of characters that are strong enough to take on pretty much any heavy hitter from the series (bar Discord and The Sisters at full power)
When I scale a character's strength, I usually find a real-life object to match it to.

I need to realistically and convincingly reduce Twilight's power and that's hard. I also need to worry about power creep too. So I need avoid making her too powerful and make sure she is not too week.
