IN WHICH I TAKE A RESPITE FROM HEAT
But not from hot beats -- okay, bad pun, I know. Shoot me please. Here's today's music video.
BRATS is probably my favourite active J-Rock band, as The Pillows is inactive. Anyway, past the jump:
I'm glad at least a few people, as I expected, were waiting for The Rejected to be marked Complete before reading, commenting, upvoting (that part is important, maybe moreso than adding it to bookshelves), etc.
Speaking of bookshelves, does it annoy anyone else reading this when you get a notification that someone has added your story to "Read It Later". To me, that's like a slap in the face. I have a RIL pile in the dozens and I'm not sure I'll ever get to them all. While I appreciate your interest in my work, I don't care if you're thinking about reading it; I want you to read my work now (or, y'know, within the week) and give me your feedback. This is precisely why I set my "Read It Later" pile to private.
Anyway, as I said in the afterword to the final chapter of Rejected AND the Author's Notes, we're in the home stretch now. Just one more story in the main line to go -- Recovery. I tweaked it some more today, adding a crucial call-back line to the final epilogue and a few sundry other things. I hope it'll be ready to go by the end of the week or the weekend.
The final story, including its prologue and both epilogues, clocks in at just over 6000 words, so I'm just going to post it all at once. Risky, perhaps, but it's not fair to drag out the end.
SRA is ending. I'll be a little sad when it does, even though I have plenty of other works on my plate, some completed some not.
I'll be especially sad if readers give up on me as I take a short break from Sunset stories while I clear out my backlog of stories for other characters.
Incidentally, I decided to move the first part of my mythical Pinkamena story, teased, like, 150 blog entries ago, to gdocs to give it yet another face-lift -- it was the only part out of the five completed that I had rewritten. As a result, most of what needs to be changed is one crucial name and the tweaks here and there resulting from it. I am NOT going to enjoy rewriting Zecora's dialogue.
The problem is the rest of the story -- especially parts two and three -- which need to be completely overhauled. The reason I'm calling them "parts" instead of "chapters" is because they are blocks of text of 15k+ words apiece and need to be split up. So many of you have encouraged me to revamp even old crap that I'm sorely tempted to.
Now that I have over 30 stories under my belt -- admittedly over half of that being SRA plus its side-stories -- I think I may have improved enough to finally give Pinkamena her due.
I'm so slow, I worry this site (or I) might die before I'm able to tell all the stories I want to.
Believe you me, even with SRA coming to an end, I'm nowhere close to finished with Sunset. Tormenting her? Eh, that's for y'all to decide. I haven't even started on the story I'm most excited about because I had to spend a lot of time world-building first, a task which I still haven't completed.
When is Sunset going to return to Equestria (in my continuity)? Who is she going to hook up with? I know these answers -- have for years -- but I can't tell you because I worry if I spoil things, all y'all will stop reading, even though I believe the journey is more important than the destination.
Question for those of you who have managed to make it this far: Once Recovery is posted, what would you like me to post next -- the SRA side-stories I have completed but yet to publish? Or a(n almost) completely new story that has absolutely nothing to do with Sunset Shimmer? Or get off my butt and finish the Burritoverse? Those are your options. PLEASE let me know your opinion on this very important issue.
In the meantime, I'm going to take a nap or something. It's hot out today.
Peace out!
Side stories, Burritoverse, new stories, in that order please!
Probably the side stories first. Also I don't know if I'll read the Pinkamena fic right away. Been having a bad depressive episode lately and I'm not sure I'm up for reading something dark right now.
I would absolutely love to read more about Sunset. You write these in such a great way, I look forward to reading them everyday. Please continue what you’re doing, and yes, get off your butt and write your stories.
In the end your opinion is the one that matters, if u want to post the new ones first post them if it's the burrito ones post those, I'll just know that I will read all of them.
The thing about read later I've got 2 stories in it with more than 40 chapters and they are still not done so I'm just waiting for them, I don't write fanfictions and honestly will never do I'm not that creative so I can't really know what it means to see someone put your hard work on read it later, I'm sorry for the 2 authors I'm gonna read them asap.
