    Ok. What's up with Grouchopony?

    TO ALL MY READERS

It has been quite a while since I've posted any updates to my story.
This blog entry is to offer a bit of an explanation.

Four years ago, I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. To put it in context, that was almost exactly the time I posted my first chapter of Twilight's World.

    Writing Twilight's World - Part 6.

    Dreams are Hard.

You might think that writing a dream sequence is easy, but I have found it to be somewhat difficult.

“It’s easy”, you say. “Just string together a load of garbage and disjointed thoughts.”

Alas. That is exactly the problem. That string of disjointed thoughts and images are likely to be ‘Out Of Character’ for the pony you are writing about.

    General Observations (IE: Un-Solicited Opinions)

I've been reading Fim Fiction, almost without interruption, for over a year now. In that time I've managed to read hundreds of stories. And I don't mean short stories – I tend to avoid short stories. No, I mean that I've read hundreds of stories that are at least 50K in size. But today, my irritation quotient reached its boiling point.

    Writing Twilight's World - Part 4.

    Who are the Princesses?

    Talk about writer's block.

Chapter Sixteen is a chapter necessary to bringing us up to date with what was happening in the Equestrian universe. Specifically, I felt I needed to touch on the activities of the Princesses. And it's been giving me quite a lot of trouble because I don’t know what their characters are like.

I have not previously bothered you, my readers, with any of this. Thinking, nobody(pony) would care to hear me moaning about my fate. "Oh woe is me. etc. etc." No, I just kept on, quietly getting my treatments and things were going well.

However, about 24 months ago, my 'Back' went 'out' on me 'big time'. I've had bouts of back pain for many years now, but this time it blew up and became chronic. After about 5 months, I gave up thinking "it will get better on it's own" and started getting some physiotherapy.

So from a time frame of late 2016, I wasn't much in the mood for any physical activity. I certainly could not spend extended hours in front of my computer working on my story. But you did however get a chapter (Chapter 22 - Christmas inspirations) out of me at that time.

About twelve months ago, around last May, I was finally recovering from my back problems, but feeling weakened due to all that bed-rest I'd been taking for months on end. Things were looking up - and then I was started on a new chapter of my cancer treatments. Radiation therapy.

At first it wasn't too bad, but each treatment left me feeling out of sorts, so I rested a lot. At around the time the treatments ended, last year, I published (Chapter 23 - Waking dreams). Also at this time, I undertook some serious editing of my earlier chapters.

Let me tell you, editing and proofreading my earlier work is BORING! I think I burned out at around chapter 12.

With over a a year of 'rest', - I was left weakened, and again not too capable of working for any extended time. Not to mention feeling burned out from the editing. So, I allowed myself to be sidetracked with one of my hobbies.

That hobby was 'setting up and using a CNC mill'. In my weakened state it's been slow going and a very slow project. But it's functional and the parts I've been able to make with the mill are now going into my other other projects, such as 'building a custom 3D-printer'.

What I can tell you now is that my 'recovery' is coming along and I no longer count myself as being disabled.
Also, I've played enough with my hobby projects for now and am interested in getting back to my story.

I won't quite promise the next chapter is 'real soon now'. But it shouldn't be forever either.

Thanks for favoring my story.
And thanks for watching.
Keep the faith.

Welcome back old friend! Glad to hear things seem to be getting more steadily on the positive side for you!

...Well, shit. I certainly wasn't expecting this when I woke up today. Hope everything turns out.

You certainly gave me a good scare. I quickly skimmed through the blog to make sure you weren't terminally ill (I watched Totalbiscuit's memorial podcast earlier today so a bit extra paranoid.)

Hope you'll get 100% cancer free and get your groove back. As for the boring editing, my advice is to get to know a good editor and maybe download a program like Grammarly to help you out.

I pray for your continued recovery, and wish you the best, grouchopony.

Keep strong, and get back to us as soon as you're able.

I wish you well, and eagerly await the next installment of the story!

Glad to hear things are improving, take your time

I'm really sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having, and I'm very glad to hear that you're recovering. Take your time to heal, there's no rush. Your health is the most important thing here, so don't force yourself to write before you're ready.

idk if u will read this but how r u? i wiould really like to know

nice hope u do wel on ur project!

I knew you were having some sort of issue, just from hints and such, but nothing that serious had occurred to me. Glad to hear you're getting through it/have gotten through it.

...Might've noticed this blog sooner, but I wasn't following you, just your story. Fixed. Anyway, as I've mentioned before, you have a lot of people looking forward to the continuation. But more importantly, we're happy to hear you're doing better!

Tek

Glad to hear that your feeling better and that you haven't let the string of poor fortune you got dealt keep you from getting back up from where it knocked you down.

Looking forward to what your future work on this story may bring.

In all things I wish you well.

hey, you doing alright?
what's the news on the story?

4921671

Currently, I am stuck on how to proceed with my next chapter.

No, In my heart, this story is not dead.
I've gone through some life changes, and it's harder to get back into this story.
But I will.
