    Bronycon video in the works

Soooooo, yeah, the last Bronycon was several months ago, and most everyone else who makes videos has already made theirs, so what's taking me so long? Well, mine's animated. It's basically an animated vlog to not only add some style to my con report, but also to test out a potential new format for doing videos, especially collabs.

    I'm going to Bronycon!

Yup, my first time going, and to think, this'll be the last one they ever have... well, maybe not. I'm convinced that if G5 is anywhere as good as G4 was, there'll be more cons, but this could very well be the last, so this could also be a once in a lifetime thing for me, so I'm determined to make the best of it.

I can't continue this story as it is.

Here's the problem: shadewings have been changing a lot lately, and the current canon with them would outright break this story as it is. The only way I could continue it is if Discord showed up and broke the fourth wall by installing a software update that changed Hunter's body. Even then, I don't want to use him.

    I love/hate Displaced fics

I've been reading quite a few of these lately, and I gotta say, I love the concept overall. The idea of getting to go to Equestria while playing as another character, having their powers but doing what you would do in that situation instead of them, I love it. There's just one teensy weensy little problem they always have: the crossovers.

    My stories are open source!

Let's face it, I don't have time to work on fanfics anymore, and while it would be a shame to cancel them all, I can't pick a single person I can trust with them who also has time to devote to them. There's only one option: my recently-found passion for open source!

I'm not getting any peace until I address Prisoner of Freedom, am I? · 4:01am Oct 28th, 2012

*sigh* Fine, I'll explain. This is why I took down Prisoner of Freedom:

Not long ago, I checked the story stats and saw that I was getting a crapload of views and faves, and apparently the stoey had also been featured twice. Yup, twice. So, I got it in my head that maybe it was good enough for Equestria Daily, so I decided to nut up and submit it. Boy, was I wrong.

The pre reader that got my story pointed out three flaws: a number of spelling and grammar errors starting from chapter one, the MLP characters were out of character, and my OC was too much of a self insert. So yeah, I can see how those are big problems and needed to be fixed. What really hurt me, though, and I mean deeply, is what came next.

The email said that the rejection bypassed the three strike rule. Meaning, my story got one try before they literally told me to never show it to them again. What the fuck? Seriously, I know it was bad, but they weren't even gonna gice me a second chance? Basically, what they were saying was even if I completely rewrote it, fixed every problem that was pointed out to me, and bring it up to their standards, they wouldn't have it.

It hurt. Badly. I mean, seriously, to think that my writing was so bad that they actually bypassed their own rules to give me a special rejection... I was at a loss. I felt personally offended and unfairly treated, not being entitled to the same three chances everyone else got. It's not like I was submitting a brony/Twiluna ship fic!

So yeah, I was pissed off, and I lost hope. I was already having problems liking the story myself, but had convinced myself to go on because apparently a lot of people liked it. But that one shot, that one chance I took, only to be told it would never be reconsidered, that I was so bad I didn't even deserve fair treatment...

TL;DR, EqD hates me, I rage quit the story.

Since then, I've been getting PMs and emails asking me to repost it, but here's the thing: the rules on this site say you can't resubmit a story you deleted. If I posted it now, it would not pass moderation, probably even if I rewrote it. Maybe I could have left it up, but there was no way I'd be able to continue while the constant thought of what's pretty much the most powerful brony publication online telling me I'd never be good enough stuck in my head. And marking it as cancelled would just cause more trouble, because then new people would read it and then ask why it was cancelled when they got to the end.

Unless one of the admins agrees to let me post a rewrite, it'll never see the light of day on this site again, and I doubt that will happen since they didn't even reply when I tried to write about a problem with the site. And EqD will never reconsider it. I'm honestly still pissed that they would go that far, but what can I do? Changing their minds is probably impossible for me.

Anyway, now you guys know why PoF is gone. I understand I'll likely get a lot of flack for this, but you deserve to know anyway. I'm sorry, everyone.

It could very well be that there was another fic of the same name that was submitted twice before, and the pre-reader didn't think to check if you were the same author. Still, that is a load of horseapples right there.

I'd send the case straight to Seth, or Cereal Velocity. Tell them about the 'special' rejection, and ask what the deal is.

I didn't follow PoF myself, but for someone who's been wronged like this, I'd be willing to lend my voice.

And this is one of the reasons why I hate EqD. :facehoof:

The email said that the rejection bypassed the three strike rule. Meaning, my story got one try before they literally told me to never show it to them again. What the fuck? Seriously, I know it was bad, but they weren't even gonna gice me a second chance? Basically, what they were saying was even if I completely rewrote it, fixed every problem that was pointed out to me, and bring it up to their standards, they wouldn't have it.

You wanna know something? I hate it when people have some good ass talent in them and are shot down by those who are jelouse, or are strait up douche bags. You, my good sir, knows how to grab a readers attention.

I can love. I can tolerate. But right know, I'm not so happy with EqD. I never read Prisoner of Freedom, but I'm damn proud to say that I wish I did. I completely agree with>>453963, because this 'special rejection' is a bunch of bullshit.:twilightangry2:

Ignore them though, you have some serious imagination here, and I don't want that to go to waste. EqD might not like you, but here, on FimFiction, we freaking love your stories man.:pinkiehappy:

Keep at it.

From what I have heard the staff at EqD are generally un-brony-ish dicks. I wouldn't know though... I HATE EqD. The site is unnecessarily complex and a major pain in the ass to use. I don't get why people are all up Seth and EqD's ass, FimFiction is a WAY better site.:moustache:

(PoF's emo/self-hate theme does come off really strong. Strong enough that it could be painful to read at times, I was still reading though so... it couldn't have been that bad now could it?:trollestia:)

Ignore the EQD pre-readers. They have proven themselves time and time again to be corrupt and biased. I wish you would continue it but I won't try to force you to do anything(not like I could). However, if you should ever get the inspiration and the encouragement(you have mine) to re-try the story and FimFiction won't let you re-post, there is always other pony fanfiction dedicated sites and the ever present Fanfiction.net. PoF could be REALLY good if you were to put in the time and effort. Please, don't give up. :fluttercry:

Before I begin, I'd like to state that I agree, to an extent, with the pre-readers’ criticisms, as harsh as they were (I read the e-mail you posted). But this ‘special rejection’ rubs me the wrong way. Bypassing an established set of rules to have your way? That disturbs me. To outright tell someone that their idea, their very concept would never be allowed because of one faulty submission? That's just plain wrong. The worst part is that there's nothing anyone can do. At this point, you can take the concept you have, and spin it into a new, different story with different characters and plots, or you can put it to rest and move forwards. Do what feels right.

And by the way, despite what the pre reader implied, you are a good writer.

I have no words for how angry EqD has made me right now :flutterrage:

Damn, dude...

Hey, do you happen to know how long the average wait time is? I've been waiting a few days, and I just wanted to make sure that's normal. Hopefully they won't confirm my suspicions that my story is as bad as they THOUGHT yours was.

I might not have read it, but anything by you is good. Without exception.

And this is why I will never submit a story to, or associate myself with eqd. Those assholes.

You can contact Knighty to request your story to be revived.
Don't mind the Daily, you don't need them.:pinkiehappy:

And that is the reason fimfiction is a better place for fanfics then EqD

Also, "bypass their three strike rule"? What the litteral fuck? They can't do that, what the fuck gives them the right to simply say "this was so horrible that I don't even wanna see it in a perfect state"? Fucking assholes.

What I've learned over time, is to never trust EQD with their shitty fanfic rules. :ajbemused:
Also, the prereader who checked your story is an asshole.
How in the flying fuck is the prereader allowed to break the site rules?!

Well forget them i dont know that feel bro but i do feel ya
:fluttercry::fluttercry::fluttercry:

Although I'm sad the story is gone, I can't fault you for it. I just wish people would stop trying to submit stories there altogether. Its just a snooty site that enjoys telling people they suck even if they are good writers. It only ends in rejection for pretty much everything. Even Aegis Shield couldn't get his "Rise of The Lunar Stallions" stories on Eqd, and I think those are amazing. You don't need Eqd to have our appreciation.

Damn, EqD are a pack of Dummkomphs, aren't they? :ajbemused:

A bit bummed to see "Prisoner" go, but I'm not the creator here, you are.

Peace!

Spelling and grammar errors are hardly a reason to .....
Out of character?
Part of the point of FanFIc is to display an interprtation of .....
An OC is supposed to be a self insert, most writers do that in order to .....
"Bypass the three strike rule"
You can't just .....
:flutterrage::twilightangry2::flutterrage::twilightangry2::flutterrage::twilightangry2:
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!!!!
I am so sorry EqD treated you like this dude.
You can't let them get to you like this. You had a great story, interesting characters and a plot that kept me wanting more.
And you know what, alot of people here loved that story to. Their opinons are the ones you should care about, not the dumbass ones at EqD.
"Most powerful brony publication online" my ass.
I personally was enthralled, as to what was going to happen next with the pegasus that was spying on Shacklebolt; it was my favorite part of the story.
You are the creator, what happens with this story is entirely up to you.
But please . . . PLEASE, don't let your story, your characters, your world DIE because of the opinions of a site so pretentious, so self satisfied, so unbeleivably arrogant, and so far up their own ass that they are in danger of choking on their own heads.
We love you, don't leave us, don't quit writing, and most importantly: Shine on you crazy diamond.:heart::heart:

Well, idk about anyone else, but let me tell you this:

Today, I actually took the time to go and look for your story in my favs list and see if I missed an update. Upon not seeing it in my massive list, I had to search for it.
I came here.
I read this blog post.
I was severely disappointed.

Dug a little further and found you are rewriting it. Kudos. Now I don't have to punch a baby because of you.

Have a watch!

I still honestly thought nothing was wrong with PoF other than minor errors with spelling and such. imo, wasn't even enough to bother me, and that's saying something. Still a little upset you threw away a perfectly good, featured story. I've seen the big box twice myself, but there are writers around here that would kill to be featured.

This was my absolute favorite story of all... :fluttershysad:

Well rename the story and try to fix it up, write a note to the admins and explain why, and really its your ownfalt for not checking it but the self insert thing is weird because im guessing mostly all of them are inserts. Your story had heart and brought tears to my eye. It is not your fault that they rejected it but you should never give up. The path to a good writer is fraught with peril. I really hope that you try your story again but also to send a letter to the admins i think they would understand. And i did read your story and really i didnt find the sence of too much selfinsert? I think you just submitted it on the wrong day to the wrong person. I hope that you stand up and move forward cause thars all you can do.

And of course the mlp cast was ooc its a freaking fan fiction its your way of wat happens in the series as long as its a godmod like story but yours wasnr dont give up
