Galacon - Hosting a Writing Workshop!

Hi all, excellent news!

I’ve had it confirmed today that I will (almost certainly, barring any severe schedule catastrophe) will be running a writing workshop at Galacon this year.

If anyone is thinking of going, or is already going, I eagerly ask you to drop in. Both to say hi, and because of what we’ll be doing. Similar to what I did at Bronyscot in 2017, it will be the Blind Brainstorm. Please find the advertisement blurb below:

“Genre. Protagonist. Antagonist. Setting. Goal. Five elements of any story. Groups of five have to each pick an element and then plan that story out. The twist? Until they each say their story element, none of them will know what the others have chosen!

This workshop invites writers both new andexperienced to come along. Share in the undoubtedly barmy results; learn how to plan stories out (to help you write the one you always wanted!); and then enter the Flash Fic contest, as we prove together that everyone has a story to tell!”

This created abject hysteria in the group that came to Bronyscot’s one. Such examples as “A Film Noir tale of Starlight Glimmer and Angel Bunny” came up spontaneously.

But it will also involve writing aids, and a few tutorials on things like writing a good synopsis and the structure of planning stories. I always hang around after events too, in case anybody wants to chat further on the subject.

So do please come on over if you’re in the area. There will also undoubtedly be other FOE related people to meet there as well.
