My Thoughts on 'Fake It Till' You Make It' (s8e4) · 4:13pm Apr 7th, 2018

This episode was fantastic.

Once again, mild spoilers below.

(that's straight up from the episode btw)

So, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't really have any expectations heading into this. I figured it'd be a filler episode that just treads old ground. And I guess, in a way, it's kind of accurate... but at the same time it wasn't.

So, the basic idea is that Fluttershy gets tasked with running Rarity's Manehattan branch of her shop for a day because Rarity is out of town. Now, I expected Fluttershy to be all shy and whatnot and get in over her head and need help from her friends.

Not quite.

Instead, Fluttershy actually makes a decision on her own, adopts the 'customer service' personality and tries to help customer's that way. And it works! Of course, only for so long. But, you know, I'll save that for later.

It really reminds me of when I was first given the opportunity to manage a restaurant back when I was a teenager. I was inexperienced and wasn't quite sure what to do. And guess what, I made some big mistakes. Fluttershy is the same way. It was her first day in a position like that and some negative things came from it, but at the same time, positives did, too.

This episode was a pretty big step up for Fluttershy. I mean, she actually displayed confidence on her own without being prodded by friends, she made independent decisions on a larger scale and found success doing it. It was pretty great and a pleasant surprise.

Anyhow, my final score is:

8.5/10

Definitely watch it if you have the time.
