    I Miss This

I do. I just wanted to say. I'm trying to get back in, but focus is hard and time is limited.

Probably best to post things when I finish them, anyway.

    Conlang Ponish

Has anyone ever done a conlang workup of Ponish? It doesn't have to be GOOD but I could really use some idea what it might sound like to a non-Ponish speaker. I'm a novice conlanger and I COULD go down that rabbit hole, but it's probably not an effective use of my time.

It's an effective use of someone else's time, tho. :ajsmug:

    Any help is appreciated.

Getting Some of My Mojo Back

Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Doing a lot of furry art and comics right now on Furaffinity, and my normie erotica is still what keeps the lights on.

Miss horse butts and horse drama tho. And I have SO many unfinished fanfics.

    This Past Year Has Sucked

And it's still ongoing. There are some things you want to do, something things you have to do for loyalty, and some things you have to do for survival. If there's an afterlife, I hope I can just write and draw and put things in a library when I'm done with them. It doesn't matter if anyone but God sees them. I want to make things forever without being interrupted by the needs of life.

yeah it is c.c

It fucking is and that quote is one of the things I randomly cite all over the place no matter how it appropriate it may be.

I could give you so many equivalent quotes from The Last Unicorn, too.

"Yes, you truly are like me!" -- last unicorn fighting harpy

Ha! I love that book/movie too!

These things are the makings of a brony.

Personally, I love the book a whole lot more than the movie, because it really goes into that "incarnated embodiments of purity are nothing like what you'd expect a person to be" theme, but yeah, that's one of those things that really distinguish a fan of high-concept fantasy from the type who's just into it because it's popular on the internet.

4827661

Oh agreed.

The book is almost always better.

No. That’s wrong. The book is ALWAYS better. Sometimes you get a decent adaption. But... I can never remember saying “yeah the book was okay but the movie really blew me away”. When has that ever happened?

Well, not a whole lot, but in a case like this one, it feels like it matters in a way conventional differences didn't.

To be honest, I've been thinking about writing a real Last Unicorn crossover for quite a while, for all that Patchwork Poltergeist made a good effort at it. The way that The Last Unicorn's true immortals differ from the kind we see in MLP expresses something special about human nature that no story so far has really been able to capture. It's not just about what humans are or what ponies are, it's about what it means to really be something eternal, something that feels no hate, love or regret. I think we could do better, but nobody ever tries.

4827672 I can think of quite a few, although some are more debatable than others.

Jaws (easily)
The Godfather (easily)
Fight Club (arguably)
The Shining (arguably)
Jurassic Park (arguably)
Apocalypse Now (stretching it a bit but I still count it)
The Thing 1982 (easily)
No Country for Old Men (arguably)
Being There (arguably)

Some others I can't think of right now. You'd be surprised at how many acclaimed movies are based on obscure and/or not-so-good novels.

Also, I adore the Watership Down movie, but the book's got more layers to it. :unsuresweetie:

Ah shit you've got me. In most of these cases I actually haven't read those books. All but one, actually, and I'd agree on Fight Club. BUT. I was reading the book in mind-to-late 2001 and it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth WRT world events at that point.

The best thing about the Watership Down movie is they add a bunny -- Violet I think? JUST so he/she can die. :D

I saw the film first, when I was in 4th grade. Captain Campion's story about what happened at Sandleford warren will stay with me forever. :fluttercry: Found and read the book immediately. INSTANT FURRY.

One of my really early fanfics was a LU crossover, but it was almost 100% Schmenderick and Molly interacting with the Mane 6. I'd still be afraid to try and write The Unicorn. She's a tough character to get right.

And its not published on this site or anywhere else so don't look. ;)
