Chapter 16, and Nier · 7:14am Mar 17th, 2018
Hey, boyos! For those with people to be and places to do, the quick in-and-out is that I'm nearly done with the Chapter 16 draft, and you can expect an update within the week.
As for those of you that actually read these, now for the details!
It's been a good long while since I pushed an update out to you lot. It's been nagging at me the whole time. Gosh, I would think to myself, has long has it been since I did some writing? I would check the story page and see it had been a couple weeks, then a month, then two months. I spoke with my co-author a few times on how to do the chapter, but nothing came of it.
And then some prick was all like, "well, guess the story's dead." And like any red-blooded American, that was the extra push I needed. Nothing like a little spite to get the old gears going. Do you know who I am? I'm the man that's gonna burn your house down! With fulvous fists! So thanks for that.
You can tell there's Rarity in the chapter, cause I learned a fancy new color.
Anywho, I plotted the chapter out with my co-author and churned out a draft within a couple days. I listened to the entire soundtrack to Nier: Automata a little bit over two times throughout, and damn is that a great soundtrack. Great game, too. I finished it just a day or two before I started on the draft. I recommend it to anyone.
So there the draft sits. It's at 7300 words right now. I've got one more little bit to write, which I guess will be another few hundred words. I'm just waiting for my co-author to get back to me on how to pull it off. Once it's good and edited I'll be picking a song and sending it out.
I've been thinking about writing a lore supplement while I wait, too. I'm debating between whether to do 'Twilight's Notes on Princess Cults' or 'Twilight's Notes on the Gifted,' or perhaps 'Twilight's Notes on the Vacant Throne.' I know there's a few hundred of you out there that like those things.
It's at this point that I'm contractually obligated to plug my Discord channel. Come chat with me, ask questions about the story, and get updates anytime I do some writing. Pester me to update more often, even. Really, I could use it. Oh, and there are other people in the channel too. That's what they tell me, at least. It's not like anyone ever says anything.
Currently on Route C, these twists and turns are awesome.

Don't forget about the side quests! They get just as crazy as the main story.
Still need to finish Automata, but the soundtrack is indeed amazing - all the Nier soundtracks are (though Drakengard 3's soundtrack fell a bit flat for me... as well as the entire game). I actually wrote a fic inspired by the soundtrack it's that good.

My only regret is that it's not on Spotify. I suppose it makes sense since its a dynamic soundtrack, maybe? Just disappointed that I couldn't mix it into my writing playlist and had to go with one or the other. I've been considering just buying it for that reason.
I haven't played Automata since I don't have a PS4.

I felt the same way, and then I saw it on Steam. On sale, no less. Really, get it on Steam! Just make sure you have a gamepad because the keyboard and mouse controls are damn cancer.
