    MLP: TNG

I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

    Revisiting the Final Season

A few months ago, I rewatched Season 9, and I liked it even better than the first time I saw it. There were still two episodes that I didn't care for: “3, 2, 1, Greaaat” and “Trivial Pursuit.” With both of those episodes, I went into them with the mindset that I would skip to the next episode when they started to annoy me. I only made it a few minutes into each episode.

    Bereavement

It's been awhile since I've posted any updates. Things happened one after another to make me lose interest in multicolored ponies. First the show ended, and then real world problems started happening. Then came the worst case scenario – I lost my father in February of this year.

    Random update

I haven't been on this site as much as I use to because of real life distractions. Not all of the distractions have been good, but the good ones are truly amazing.

Pony Life is a regression to Season One

Maybe it's just because the MLP stop-motion shorts lowered my expectations, but so far I think Pony Life is okay. I wouldn't call it good, but at least it doesn't directly insult older fans the way Thundercats Roar does (or so I've heard). I enjoy Pony Life's animation style enough to recommend watching five minutes of it. Plus, there is actual dialog spoken by the same VA's from FiM, and they

I didn't expect "Celestia's Little Shop of Horrors" to get featured! Even though I was happy with the way it turned out, it had a couple of things working against it. The first is that it's set in a specific fic-verse, but I think I underestimated the popularity of the Oversaturated world. And the second is that there is an influx of good comedies that my fic had to compete with.

You may be interested to know that I went back and added to the original opening: there is now more dialog and another joke, plus an earlier reveal of Audrey II. It doesn't change the story on a fundamental level, but it might be worth checking out.

This fanfic came about a little differently than my other stories. It started when I read this chapter of "Group Precipitation." It got the story gears turning in my head and I wrote a 1000-word follow-up which I posted on the "Group Precipitation" fiction thread. A couple of people thought it should be expanded on even further, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to take any more time away from my other fanfics. Then I found out about Aragon's contest a little over a week ago, and I thought, Hey, I already have an amusing fanfic started, I might as well finish it and enter!

Typically when I write a story, I simply go with the flow and write down everything in chronological order. This time I partly did that, but I also brainstormed jokes (mostly as I was falling asleep) and wrote them down as soon as I could, and then wrote part of the story around them.

Just for fun, here is the complete list of songs referenced in the fanfic. The plants really love the Beatles.

My Girl - The Temptations
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Theme
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - The Beatles
I'm the Friend That You Need - The MLP Movie
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Mony Mony - Billy Idol
Heaven - Bryan Adams
Sleigh Ride - Leroy Anderson (performed by whichever artist you prefer)
Spider-pig - The Simpsons Movie
Good Day, Sunshine - The Beatles
Evil Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
Aquarius / Let the Sunshine In - Hair
