Robotech hiatus and possible future revisions · 3:46am Feb 3rd, 2018
I am guessing that this blog is well overdue for the eager fans of my Robotech; a new world story, and I apologize for having held off on this as long as I have.
No, I am not cancelling the story. Please listen.
For a long time, I've felt that the story was just not going in its proper direction, and though I've come up with about six hundred words for the next chapter, the problem ultimately lies in how I wrote it leading up to its current point. I made many mistakes that really stick out to me, such as sticking much to closely to the original material, to the point of including all too many quotes, occasionally bent slightly to fit. I wrote Luna and Shining Armor in a way that really didn't depict them as I intended. The ponies, as some commentators noted, were essentially more audience than protagonists. I didn't really have a good plan for the main characters of the show, whom I have gotten to know better since the end of Season 2, which makes it really unlikely that Luna would just go out on a limb and go AWOL on her sister, among other things.
Most important, as I realized a few weeks ago, I was having the most fun writing it BEFORE the Zentraedi entered the scene in earnest. I enjoyed writing the interactions between the RDF and Equestrians. I would have been pleased to almost forget the war between Earth and the Zentraedi and keep the story on Equestria. Since the SDF-1 left Equestria, I've felt more and more writers' block.
I have resisted trying to revise the story further, as it took a year to rebuild the battle of Mareis, both in space and on the ground, in a way that the readers found realistic and anywhere near original. Now, though, I'm having second thoughts. I've been considering just deleting chapters after the Zentraedi arrival and rebuilding it with more human and pony interactions (one of my consistent ideas, up to the Season 6 finale, was that Chrysalis would launch another attack on Equestria, only for her and her army to be vaporized by the SDF-1's main gun when the SDF-1 returned). I think it's time to put aside my pride and really think about revamping the story, up to the extreme of just deleting later chapters and going in a totally different direction, one where both series are interconnected and ponies and RDF members are equal protagonists.
Again, I am not cancelling it, and so far, this is only a plan taking place in my mind with nothing set in concrete. I may end up disregarding my misgivings, but I think much of my problem has been that I've long since stopped enjoying what I've written, and that what I have written has not satisfied the audience. The War of 1002 has been less trouble because I had, and have, more freedom with what I do there, whereas Robotech, whatever the schism between Macross and Robotech fans, does have a fanbase with established canon, much of which is based on books that I've never been able to find in stores and hence I have no clue about anything outside of what the show tells us and what I read about the Robotech Wars on Wikipedia and Robotech Saga Wiki (Wikipedia having since first compressed its articles on the Robotech wars into a single article, and now having deleted them completely, while the latter has intermittent and incomplete information). MLP:FIM is more easy understood via the show alone; while there are comics out there, they are not necessary to explain the overall story. This explains why the whole Mareis arc was kind of a bust, given that the SDF-1 itself apparently, according to one Robotech fan, didn't need fossil fuels (though the same might not have been true of other vehicles), although this was not explained, or at least not fully in my opinion, by the actual episodes of Robotech detailing the Mars battle in the original series.
So, TLDR; I am considering deleting content in the story that happened after the Zentraedi arrived. They'd eventually come; that was kinda necessary for the sake of keeping the story going. After all, fans of Robotech wouldn't be able to let go of the whole question of what happened to them and what they'd get up to in the unexpected absence of the SDF-1 from Earth's solar system. But that could be saved until much, much later, or even for a sequel. I brought them on much too fast and should have spent a lot more time developing the story and the character relationships instead of doing what I did and jumping into combat as soon as I justifiably could.
I know that this might cause people some panic, or maybe you just don't trust me anymore to complete it, and I understand. I'm disappointed about my lack of updates and keeping my readers waiting months if not years is not something I'm proud of. The problem is further compounded by the fact that I am currently enrolled in college and therefore some of my time is spent on schoolwork, and much of the rest is spent trying to play games and rest from the work. Honestly, the college I go to is amazing, and is a blessing; I just feel stressed about the work sometimes.

It is alright man, honestly Luna and Armor were acting out of character and such... if you need more intel on Robotech I would be happy to chat on xbox or even pm on here. (Tbh I need to finish up my stories as well)
Why don't you do a ponyfide version of Robottech with pony's adapting and merges magic with the technology? Would be fun to them have three hundred jump in technology

yeah this is entirely fair i am curious to see where this goes with the revisions but i can wait a significant amount of time for that. i waited 6 years for news i can wait 6 more
