"Kung Pow: Enter the Hoof" Returns! · 6:46pm Dec 30th, 2017

>tfw the best crossover fic on FimFiction returns after three years

So I know this matters to maybe two people, but I'm going to be continuing my as-of-yet uncompleted fanfiction "Kung Pow: Enter the Hoof". For those of you that don't know, it's a crossover fiction involving MLP and the comedy film "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist". The basic plot is that the bad guy from Kung Pow, named "Betty", comes to Equestria to take over, after being foiled by the Chosen One in the movie.

I started the fic two years ago, right after I'd seen the movie for the first time. I was planning to finish it up, but a very heavy college course load weighed me down, and I more or less forgot about it for some time. I'd see it on my profile every now and then, but I didn't really do anything with it. In fact, a month or so ago, I marked it as "Cancelled" on the site.

The Chosen One voices his displeasure.

However, that all changed when I bought "Kung Pow! Enter the Fist: The Chosen Edition" a few weeks ago. The more I thought about the movie, the more I thought about this fic. And the more I thought about it, I slowly realized that it'd be nice if it was finally completed. The world of "Kung Pow" is absolutely rife with comedy, and finding a way to finish telling its story in the world of Equestria would be quite an achievement.

There's just one problem: I never outlined the original story with any kind of notes, as it was just meant to be two or three chapters of silliness. But I have no recollection of what this silliness was, so I'm basically starting over from scratch.

The good news, however, is that the lack of planning, along with the open-ended beginning of the story, should give me some decent freedom to construct a newly-crafted story...which I’m actually kind of glad about. Three years of writing have given me a different perspective about what works and what doesn’t, and this newfound experience will push me to write a better comedy tale than I probably would’ve originally.

I’m planning on re-watching “Kung Pow” soon, as well as “Tiger and Crane Fists” (the movie that “Kung Pow” uses footage from) to get in the right mindset. After that, I’ll fully flesh out the story ideas and start back up. I’ll try to find an editor fairly soon, if only so that the story could be strengthened through alternative input. Comedy is subjective, after all, and having somebody tell me what works and what doesn’t would be quite beneficial.

So to anybody that was remotely interested in that story, stay tuned. I plan to have the next few chapters out by January, and I don’t see myself taking any longer than February to completely finish the story.

Thanks for your support, and I’ll see you soon.

Literally this whole post.
