Act II Progress · 4:50am Dec 28th, 2017
Howdy folks.
It's been something close to half a year since I really started digging into Act 2, so I wanted to provide a little end-of-year summary on that project is going, since it's been radio silence in the meantime. Currently, I've nearing the end of the sixteenth chapter of the first draft. Where exactly does that place me in terms of completing it? That's a lot harder to say, since the story has changed a lot from my outline over the course of the writing process. I heard once that the first draft is the process of the writer telling the story to themselves, and that's certainly proven to be the case here. But it's been refreshing to get through it all the same. (But in all seriousness, I would be surprised if I wasn't at least halfway through the story by now. And a good amount of it will probably have to be cut as we go into editing anyway.)
In 2018, I'm going to keep forging ahead on this project, aiming to get the first chapter out the door sometime in summer, hopefully, but by the year's end at the very least. And remember that since I'll only publish once everything else is done, the first chapter's publication will herald the other chapters following on a weekly cadence.
Whenever I get important supporting documents in, like say the cover art or a map or some such, I'll be sure to post them here too. 2018 is going to be a big year, and I can't wait.
