    What is YOUR Definition...

    People often yak at me

    "Try better yourself"

    "Grow up"

    "Improve"

They say all that, but they don't provide actual definitions or explanations of what they mean by all that. It's like I'm supposed to guess what they want.

The same thing follows with fiction, when people whine and complain.

    "This sucks"

    "Write them In character"

Twilight Sparkle Improving Lives? (Friendship is Failure)

    People sure love to complain...

She always tries her best to get through to those with friendship problems and help them improve their lives, no matter how much they reject and act hostile towards her.

She gets disrespected a lot because she wants to help people, even though she's a princess who's saved Equestria on multiple occasions.

What will it Change? (Trying means Nothing!)

In relation to my previous blog, https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/1035717/i-have-to-or-you-just-want-me-to which relates to "Are you doing it for ME or YOURSELF?"

People still get up my back saying I need to "Get Help" "Change my groove" or, and the most often said "Fix your writing-- make it better/different"

I HAVE to, or you just WANT me to?

People often go about saying... "You HAVE to move on." "You HAVE to let go." "You HAVE to Improve" "You HAVE to this" "You HAVE to that."

But here's the real deal to consider. Do I really HAVE to, or do you just WANT me to? That's the ideal.

Lightning Dawn is the central main character of My Brave Pony, Starfleet Magic. He is a humanoid male Space Alicorn pony, whom possesses a rare golden horn, has the power to transform into a powerful Enticorn, and becomes Supreme Allied Commander of Starfleet in Unleash the Magic (Season 3)

He is also the foster son and former apprentice of Grand Ruler Celesto, and becomes the husband of Starla Shine. At the end of Season 6, Starla becomes pregnant with their first child.

Prior to the series

As explained in Double Trouble (Season 1), on the day of his fifth birthday, Lightning was the only survivor of the Planet Harmonious, which had been destroyed by the evil Serpentari and her forces, which claimed the lives of Lightning’s parents and grandfather, as well as all other Harmonians. Young Lightning was forced to wander through space, endlessly drifting from planet-to-planet, overcoming hardships and perilous obstacles, eventually leading to his meeting with Grand Ruler Celesto of the Planet Unicornicopia. There was accepted as Grand Ruler’s private pupil, and he spent over a decade being trained in fighting skills, and educated in the mind.

At the beginning of the series, he and Krysta, his best friend and traveling companion, move from Grand Ruler’s floating skypalace to White Village on Unicornicopia to continue his training and make a life for himself, as well as becoming a member of Starfleet to aid in the struggle against evil.

Lightning’s human counterpart,  seen in the series My Brave Pony, Starfleet Humans, is a school teacher of war history, and a daring, bold and courageous explorer and hero, whom later becomes The Cosmic Comet Ranger in the series Power Rangers Starfleet, and Power Rangers Super Starfleet.

Depiction in the series

Lightning Dawn currently resides lives New Ponyville on the Planet United Equestria, before that time he lived in a house White Villiage on Planet Unicornicopia, after moving out of Grand Ruler Celesto’s floating skypalace where he spent over a decade training and studying. Accompanied by Krysta, Lightning settles into his new home and meets the rest of the main characters as he starts to build a life for himself. The celebration is interrupted when Lord Titan, a villainous sorcerer, begins to rise to power and threatens to destroy and conquer the entire Dimensional Universe starting with Unicornicopia.

When Titan overpowers Lightning’s new friends, with the aid of his years of training, Lightning battles and defeats the sorcerer (though it is soon revealed not to be the real Titan) thus sparing the planet from certain disaster. However, with the war of Titan about to commence, Lightning is persuaded by his mentor, Grand Ruler Celesto, to join Starfleet and aid in the great battles that lie ahead.

Throughout the series Lightning, aided by his friends, battles countless monsters and creatures sent by Titan, his minions, as well as other evil forces, and protect their planet and the universe, eventually meeting and joining forces with Twilight Sparke and her friends of the Planet Equestria, which later would become United-Equestria, and continue to battle the forces of evil.

ID-Code

As Lightning is a Space Alicorn, he is incapable of gaining a Cutie Mark, for the power of Grand Ruler Celesto that resides within his genes (Like all Space Alicorns) prevents that magic from seeping through. Instead, like all Space Alicorns Lightning is assigned an ID-Code to serve as his codename. His code is “AO0C.”

Personality

Sociability and friendship

Twilight is first introduced in the series as being skeptical of sociality. Having been living with Grand Ruler in the floating skypalace for over a decade and coupled with his harsh past trauma, his skepticism was understandable. He is initially uninterested in meeting others and socializing with most others, but over the course of the series premiere, Lightning softens, especially upon meeting with Starla Shine and becoming instantly attracted to her. After saving his friends and rescuing over captured ponies from Titan’s forces, he realizes how much he is willing to try and accept friendship, and adds it to his desire to protect others from evil forces.

Hatred of Evil

Lightning, like his mentor and other ponies, has an overly-developed despising of evil beings; he knows what evil is capable of doing. In his case, his home planet, Harmonious, was destroyed and his entire race as well as his family were all killed. Overly outraged and devastated by all this, Lightning does not wish for other innocent beings to experience his trauma and pain by facing the same hardships he had.

Rationality

Lightning usually tends be rational in most situations, but he can also be very strict and stern and will not be afraid to speak his mind, or to call someone out on their faults and errors of misjudgment. Though he tries his hardest not to, Lightning can also be prone to anger and losing his cool, while at other times he can very mournful.

In Queen of the Fairies (Season 1) after recognizing Serpentari as the monster that destroyed his planet and killed his family, he becomes increasingly agitated and infuriated, wanting to destroy her and avenge the death of his family.

In Histories Unfold (Season 1) He snaps at Grand Ruler Celesto for deliberately refusing to tell him and Krysta what is bothering him, and then later states that he dares to speak out believing he is right.

In Trial of Misjudgment (Season 2) He revealed during a court-martial that he and Starla were having a heated disagreement and falling out due to Starla mistaking Lightning for having betrayed a secret of hers to the others (revealed he did not betray her at all) and his attitude as well as hers were becoming increasingly annoying.

In Order of Choice (Season 2) Lightning scolds Rainbow Dash for doing poorly her training test (She had recklessly shot every single target including ones she shouldn’t have)

In Reason for Treason (Season 3) Lightning suspects Shining Armor as a wanted traitor that was sought. Though he did not like it any more than the others and hoped he was wrong. When Shining Armor’s suspect was seemingly proven guilty, Lightning (acting under orders) shamefully arrested him and assumed the role of acting regent of the New Crystal Empire. By the end of the episode, Shining Armor was proven innocent (As he was acting under orders to pose as a traitor in attempt to trap the real one) and Lightning proudly stepped down from the throne and gave control of the empire back to Shining Armor and Princess Cadance.

In Arranged and Engaged (Season 3), after rescuing Starla from a wannabe suitor whom had kidnapped her, Lightning, overly frustrated from constant interruptions, Lightning completely loses his cool and shouts his proposal to Starla directly to her face (Which she lovingly accepts, understanding his frustration) He is then instantly calmed.

Following the events of Win, Lose, or die! (Season 3) After Twilight dies in his arms after being struck down in battle, Lightning is seemingly the most devastated by her death and becomes overly depressed, and proceeds to blame himself for her death (Despite the facts that it was not truly his fault) Lightning has continued to quietly grieve for Twilight throughout the remainder of the series, missing her dearly, but tries his hardest to remain strong.

In Revelations and Regulations (Season 3) Angered and overly upset by Starla being kidnapped at their wedding, Lightning, in his frustration, gives a mean attitude to all his friends and superiors.

In The Legendary Enticorn (Season 3) Overly outraged by Fratello’s merciless demise by King Sombra, Lightning’s outrage and desire to avenge deaths of his friends is what ignites his spark to become an Enticorn for the first time.

Throughout all of Season 4, Lightning is deeply frightened by his inability to control his unstable Enticorn powers, which cause him to run amok and endanger his friends and others. It is revealed by the end of the season that the powers are linked to Lightning’s emotions and that extreme fury is what caused the instability.

In Season 5, Lightning is determined to help protect Princess Cadance while she is pregnant, not wishing for anymore disaster to befall her. In Desperate Efforts, despite Lightning and his friends best efforts, Cadance is injured when a stone column falls upon her, causing her to have a miscarriage and her baby to die from stillbirth, which greatly devastates Lightning so harshly, In The Day Lightning Stood Still, overly depressed by his failure to save Cadance’s stillborn child and coupled with his own inner trauma form his past hardships and tragedies, Lightning falls into a deep comatose state and does not snap out of it until the final episode.

Skills

Jack of all Trades

Lightning is an exceptionally hard worker, and he exhibits rudimentary skills in many fields such as Arts, Sciences, Technology, Ecology, and many other trades. As a Community Worker he would go around and help people at their workstations or do menial tasks for others (IE: gardening, dish washing, ect, ect…)

As Supreme Allied Commander, he is constantly busy filing reports, attending conferences, organizing Starfleet Matters and other things, which can sometimes last long into the night.

Twice in the series, Lightning has taken over command of the New Crystal Empire whenever Shining Armor and or Cadance are unable to fulfil their duties.

Lightning (Like all his friends and fellow officers) is also a very skilled dancer, as it is a training exercise of Starfleet to improve evasiveness.

Teaching/Trainer

In addition to his talents and skills, Lightning takes part time to give lectures to civilians and in-training Starfleet fighters the history of Starfleet and the mysteries of the universe discovered by the force and other Space Ponies. Lightning also takes time to teach at the elementary schools when the regular teachers are absent.

Then as a Starfleet trainer, Lightning takes it on himself to whip his students into shape and mold them into strong-willed and brave fighters, teaching them all he had learned from his own mentor, Grand Ruler Celesto.

Magic(The Uniforce)/Strength/Abilities

As a pony from Planet Harmonious, Lightning was not born with any normal pony magic. He is unable to do any and all magic normal unicorns and alicorns are capable of doing, however his rare golden grants him the ability to tap into the ultimate power known as The Uniforce.

At the star of the series, Lightning is able to summon the uniforce by focussing his inner-strength and reciting the ancient chant, thereby unleashing a massive burst of energy in a powerful wave, which would then leave him exhausted and drained of much of his strength.

As the series progresses, Lightning strengthens himself with withstand the pressure, and masters the uniforce to able to summon it at will without reciting the chant, and is able to fire it multiple times before feeling fatigued.

Apart from simply using the uniforce in one supermassive blast, Lightning masters the power to use it unusual ways,

Uniforce Skills

-Lightning can envelop his body in the uniforce to increase his natural strength and abilities
-Fire small blasts of the uniforce in a barrage of energy balls.
-Fire a small burst out from his feet to thrust him forth.
-Pull a wall of uniforce over himself as a defensive shield to intercept attacks and projectiles.
-He and use the uniforce to bind someone in binding streak
-Use the uniforce as a seal to lock certain enemies away
-Can be used to energize certain objects

In Season 3, it is discovered that Lightning is the legendary Chosen One, (by unknown fates) whom has the power to transform into a Enticorn, depicted as one of the strongest and most amazing creatures in the Dimensional Universe.

The Enticorn of which represents that of a shining humanoid body with a sparkling starry body, spiky golden hair, the golden horn, and enveloped in the uniforce itself. While in this form, Lightning’s powers and abilities are dramatically increased to more than 10x, making his true full power indeterminate, however, this transformation is linked in with Lightning’s emotions; overly and excessive emotional feelings can leave the powers unstable and cause Lightning to run amok without realizing his actions.

This power, due to being highly dangerous and inexplicable is usually saved for times of extreme dire moments.

Combat

skilled and trained in martial arts and combat battle, Lightning's intensive training make shim incredibly strong to the point where he has to hold himself back so as not to accidental break ordinary objects. He even punch a hole through solid steel (Depending on the density) and his speed is so incredible he is able to just run many times faster than Rainbow Dash's top speed of Mach 10.

For battle purposes, he used to be armed with a magical scepter called The Rainbow Rod which allowed him to use The Spectrum Stream as a finishing move. When he was forced to give the rod up, he was given a new Capture Blaster which is used in capturing and imprisoning the bad guys only.

Power of Believing

Lightning's elemental force is The Power of Believing, A force that focuses mainly on his determination and faith in his skills and int he faith of his friends, so as never to lose hope and believe that the battle can still be won no matter how dire the situation.
The Power of Believing, which Lightning is, seems to be the only one of it's kind while his friends and all other fighter ponies share fields and elements with others.

Family

Parents (Deceased)

Lightning’s parents’ names are unknown throughout the entire series; they both only appear in flashbacks of Lightning’s memories. His parents were very loving and blissful Harmonian ponies who loved their son dearly. Lightning’s father was killed instantly in an explosion when Serpentari attacked Harmonious, and Lightning’s mother was gravely injured in the ensure chaos. With her last ounces of strength, she sent her five-year old son, Lightning, through a space-portal created by the enemies and off to safety. She then succumbed to her injures and her corpse perished when the planet exploded.

Grandfather (Deceased)

Lightning’s grandfather is unnamed in the series. It is unknown whether he is the father of Lightning’s mother or father, and what became of his wife is unknown as well.

He was very caring to his grandson and would often take him fishing and tracking, and often showed him how to survive in the wild, which would later come in extreme handy to Lightning when Harmonious was attacked and destroyed by Serpentari, and he himself was killed.

Grand Ruler Celesto (Foster Father/Teacher)

Lightning met Grand Ruler Celesto at the age of seven (two years after the destruction of Harmonious) on the Planet Brogan, saving him from the deadly monsters that would have surely killed him. Grand Ruler took it out of the kindness of his heart to offer kindness to the lost little pony and brought Lightning to Unicornicopia to live with him, and later take him on as his personal protégée.

Celesto was depicted as a very wise and very kind-hearted ruler, seeing much potential in Lightning and wishing to train him to help him back on his feet and to give him a reason to live.

During physical training however, Celesto proved to be tough as nails, very strict, and very nit-picking: He would constantly push Lightning to the limits of his strengths and skills, and test his patience and courage though toughness and rigorousness.

However, despite not showing it onscreen all the time, Celesto truly cares for Lightning, and Lightning, our of genuine respect, sees him as a true second father for saving him and raising him to be the pony he became. As such, Lightning will not hesitate to defend the honor of his mentor whenever someone dares to question or insult him.

Starla Shine (Wife)

Lightning was instantly attracted to Starla from the moment they had met at the beginning of the series. As the series progressed, Lightning saw her as a strong-willed mare with a righteous mind and outstanding skills and abilities. He also discovered the commons they shared in their hatred of evil and desires to fight to protect, which makes him become more attracted to her than ever, and Lightning feels that without her he would be lost.

They marry at the end of Season 3.

They have few disagreements and often get along very well. Though once, they had endangered the entire planet over a silly disagreement due to an error of judgment on Starla’s part.

Though stronger than she is, and her superior officer Lightning sees and treats Starla as an equal partner; always wanting to be there for her when she needs him, willing to hear her out, and having faith in her when she goes off into battle.

As Lightning’s second-in-command, and right-hand, whenever Lightning is unable to command or fulfil his other duties, Starla temporarily takes over.

At the end of Season 6, Starla becomes pregnant with their first child.

Depiction in Starfleet Humans

My Brave Pony, Starfleet Humans

In My Brave Pony, Starfleet Humans, Lightning and Krysta teleport to a human world to retrieve the stolen Rainbow Rod from Empress Sapphira. Strangely, while Lightning is transformed into a human, he still retains his super strength and speed from his intensive training.

Lightning attends Canterlot High and meets the human counterparts of his Starfleet friends as well as the Equestrian friends. Here he learns more of the human world while in search for the Rainbow Rod, and ends up getting involved in certain activities, and ends up causing a few dramatic mishaps between himself, and the (then) ill-tempered Principal Celestia, and Sunset Shimmer.

When Lightning discovers that the Rainbow Rod, mistaken for a trophy, will be awarded the winning Basketball team at a Grand Game he joins the school Basketball team, and thanks to his enhanced strength and speed, Canterlot wins the Rod.

However, Sapphira and her son, Flash Sentry seize the rod by force and use it to unleash their evil wrath upon the land.

Using a gift given to him by Grand Ruler Celesto, Lightning and his friends are able to transform into their fighter forms and manage to defeat the villains.

On their last day before departure, Lightning runs into Twilight Sparkle, (not knowing she is in fact Princess Twilight Sparkle from Equestria, as they had not known each other at the time.)

With the Rainbow Rod successfully retrieved, Lightning and Krysta bid farewell to their human friends and return to Unicornicopia.

My Brave Pony, Starfleet Humans (Starpops)

In the film, the reformed Sunset Shimmer uses a magical book to write a note to Queen Celestia that magically appears in a book in Celestia's library, warning her that danger has risen. With Twilight dead (Killed in action in Season 3) Lightning takes it upon himself to take the task. Using a modified version of the Crystal Mirror, he along with Krysta and Spike return to the human world.

Once there, Lightning assesses the situation while also revealing his new status back home in Equestria as Supreme Allied Commander and married, (much to human Starla Shine’s obvious upset). When the Demonites betray TheDazzlings and go on a battle rampage, Lightning gives his friends their superpowers once again, and enhances the magic for Twilight’s friends allowing them to don their own battle suits.

After a long and fierce battle, the Demonites are destroyed, and the Dazzlings are arrested and taken into custody.

Afterward, Lightning returns home to United-Equestria, but thanks to how he was able to re-energize the portal, he can come back to visit anytime she wants. Sunset, also made into an official officer by Lightning,  also takes it upon herself to write her reports into her old journal for Lightning to read back in United Equestria.

After the credits roll, the human world's Lighrning  appeaers with the human world’s Twilight (whom had lost her memories in the previous movie) and they piece together some strange events that occurred at and around Canterlot High School. Lightning is companioned with non-sentient robin Krysta, while Twilight has non-sentient dog Spike.

My Brave Pony, Starfleet Humans (Starfleet Events)

In the third Starfleet Humans film, Lightning's human counterpart is revealed to be a daring, bolt and courageous explorer who works as a war history teacher at Crystal Prep Academy after having a much tragic and hardship life, like his pony-counter.

This version of Lightning is portrayed as being rather serious and strict. Often at ends with his students, preferably human Twilight Sparkle, feeling she does not truly understand how the world really works (Based on his own hardships experiences) and disbelieving in the existence of magic, but over the course of the movie, Lightning learns to tone some of his bitterness down and becomes a more rational and understanding young-man

At very end of the movie, the other Lightning Dawn appears from United Equestria, late on answering a distress call from Sunset, but seeing he is not needed anymore, exchanges advice to his human counterpart and leaves for home again.
