    What is YOUR Definition...

    People often yak at me

    "Try better yourself"

    "Grow up"

    "Improve"

They say all that, but they don't provide actual definitions or explanations of what they mean by all that. It's like I'm supposed to guess what they want.

The same thing follows with fiction, when people whine and complain.

    "This sucks"

    "Write them In character"

Twilight Sparkle Improving Lives? (Friendship is Failure)

    People sure love to complain...

She always tries her best to get through to those with friendship problems and help them improve their lives, no matter how much they reject and act hostile towards her.

She gets disrespected a lot because she wants to help people, even though she's a princess who's saved Equestria on multiple occasions.

What will it Change? (Trying means Nothing!)

In relation to my previous blog, https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/1035717/i-have-to-or-you-just-want-me-to which relates to "Are you doing it for ME or YOURSELF?"

People still get up my back saying I need to "Get Help" "Change my groove" or, and the most often said "Fix your writing-- make it better/different"

I HAVE to, or you just WANT me to?

People often go about saying... "You HAVE to move on." "You HAVE to let go." "You HAVE to Improve" "You HAVE to this" "You HAVE to that."

But here's the real deal to consider. Do I really HAVE to, or do you just WANT me to? That's the ideal.

Technology In Equestria VS Technology Starfleet · 9:14pm Oct 28th, 2017

First let's look at Equestrias technology... we'll use multiple videos to compare opinions and facts (And so I don't have to write it all out)

(I like this one a lot)

I think that's enough... now then, here's my Starfleet lookouts.

MILITARY TECH

As you've seen Equestrians weapons leave much to be desire, they do have some good weaponry, but it's all medieval themed (Armor, spears, swords, shields, cannons) Where ae Starfleet's tech seems to represent distant futuristic idealism.

Armor:

By pressing on their energizers, they can instantly don a super powered technological suit of armor. The armor of this suit is a special infused alloy, made of so many amazing materials, that nothing can harm it under 50,000 degrees, and it takes a lot of power and pressure to make a single dent in the metal "Now that's strong!" And what's more amazing.

This armor also has other functions aside form protection.

-It enhances your natural abilities (Strength, speed, endurance) many times.
-It has a special heating and cooling system to keep the wearer at a constant comfortable environment, and is even able to melt through ice. (If and when activated)
-The Energizer on the armor itself can help you summon weapons to use in combat.
-The Visor, worn across your eyes has many multiple functions...

-Heat sensory
-X-Ray
-Infrared vision
-Sound Scan
-Radar
-Telescopic magnification
-Medical scan
-Power scouting
-Database retrieval
-Computer analysis

maybe more.

Weapons:

Weapons in Starfleet range in a wide variety. Swords, staffs, whips, bows, lasers, guns, all of which can perform a multitude of clobbering or projectile attacks, and perform a powerful finishing more that can either "Destroy" "Capture" or "Heal" the enemy attacked (These modes are chosen by an easy switch located on the weapon itself)

Note: It should also be considered that since all Space Ponies are alicorns, and some Equestrian Starfleet ponies are unicorns, the use of magic can be substituted for certain weapons, such as lasers and projectile launchers, but it only depends on the type of style the pony battles.

Defense:

When the heroes run into action, it's best that the civilians run and hide. Magical barriers form around the homes and other buildings whenever danger is imminent. Kind of like people going into a storm cellar when there's a tornado approaching. These barriers are summoned by magic from their supreme majesties... which isn't exactly technological,... or the barriers can be raised automatically using energy covering rods that can pop up from the ground automatically, or manual by a concealed remote-control box, meaning they can also be disarmed the same way as well. These barriers help to avoid collateral damages that may occur during the fight, as well as keeping civilians well guarded from enemy attack.

TRANSPORTATION:

As was shown in Equestria, the most advanced bit of transportation they have range from Steamed/Horse powered Locomotives, to air-ships, and as was said in the second video, "ponies able to fly on their own is quicker, safer, and cheaper than actually taking a vehicle"

So pretty much, certain vehicles are not seen in Starfleet either as they are not conveniently needed or required, however, those that they do have are little more advanced than Equestria's travel arrangements.

Rail-System

Unlike Equestrian trains which are either steam-powered, or simply pulled by a group of horses. Starfleet trains are Solar Powered. This way, ponies don't actually have to pull the train themselves. The trains are also able to travel at a much greater speed and distance, making trips shorter and smoother. Further: since the sun and moon lightning provide the trans with their energy, means they have a limitless supply of power and won't need to stop at stations for refueling so often. As an added bonus, Solar energy doesn't lead to pollution and intoxication... the safest source of power there is.

Air Travel

All ponies capable of flying on their own pretty much rules out the need for planes and air-ships, but Starfleet does have ways of maintain aerial suspension. The only example being Grand Ruler Celesto's grand palace, which floated at 20,000 feet in the sky on a floating rock. Within the floating rock were powerful engines which were hydro powered and solar powered. They got all their power form the sun/moon and the clouds, which convert the energy to keep the massive tonnage a float.

In idealistic tech, and much safer to be used than steam, or electrical powered craft.

Teleportation

Due to air-traveling craft usually being unnecessary, flightless ponies can use instant-teleportation to get across vast distances if there is no time for them to take a train or simple Equestrian flight. this is done either by the usage of warping fairies (Which is not really technology but magic) or using evaporator pods at travel-ports, which can instantly transport the user form one place to another in a split second.

Space Travel

Never before has an Equestrian ever been into space, with the exception of Princess Luna being banished to the moon (which doesn't actually count) though some ponies have dressed up as astronauts...

The fact remains that there have been no signs of any spaceships or any form of space-travel on Equestria at all.

Starfleet on the other hand, have seen and experienced Space Craft before from the many enemies they fight. Professor Brain even spent over two decades perfecting a simple rocketship of his own... which was never used again after Season 1.

While it seems starfleet has the capabilities of manufacturing spacecraft, the lack of spacecraft is due to the fact that ships are not easily to make (Especially when considering that Dimensional Space has immense teleportation powers) Spaceships have to be carefully built with special material so they could actually remain in the void of space without being affected by the teleportation powers, not to mention it would take an extremely long time to build and make work.

Then again, spaceship's are not usually needed, as Starfleet discovered a much more effective way of traversing the cosmos. And they are, DIMENSIONAL SPACE PATHWAYS

Magical bridges, infused with both magic and technology, to create instant pathways from one planet to another. You could get from one planet to another in a matter of seconds. Reach the next star-system in mere minutes, or even get from one end of the galaxy all the way to the other in an hour or so (Depending on the distance)

Much faster and much more practical than a spaceship. Spaceships are not really that necessary and mere serve for either entertaining purposes or a base of operations.

MEDICAL SCIENCE/TECH

As was described, Equestria's medical resources aren't very satisfying, but Starfleet does have much more of what they have. Have seen and actually be able to treat many different ailments of many different creatures, Starfleet's medicines have come a long way, and they even have special meds for other things...

-If your mane was cut off or burned off, taking the right meds will make it grow back completely in half a day.
-Medicines that can heal minor injuries faster, combined with the fast-healing metabolism a Space-pony has.

Note: Starfleet knows more than Equestria, but even they cannot treat everything, but that still puts their tech higher.

COMMUNICATIONS

Starfleet also write and send letters to one-another, but they also have magical "Instant-Magical Mail" (I.M Mail) which functions in the similarity to a chatroom or a skype messenger: One person writes on the parchment, and hits "SEND" then, the other linked user receives the text as it magically appears on their parchment, and they can send text back to you.

Magical ponies are also capable of recording instant messages of their voices, and even holo-images of their bodies onto letters and messages sent (Though this is more of a magical side than technological) It almost acts in the same manner of a telephone.

When letters and messages are ready to be sent, they can be instantly "SENT" and transported to the receiver. Which is almost similar to sending an email.

A non-technological way of communication is ponies sending holo-images of themselves to speak with you directly, almost like using a phone, but both sides are capable of this. So a non-magical pony would only have to wait for a magical pony to message them first.

COMPUTER TECH

As was mentioned in the vids, ponies don't seem to have the internet. Starfleet doesn't have the internet either, but their computers are used for scouting and detecting, as well as maintenance of systems, a good example of this would be in Season 1: Starfleet computers determined that the Equestrian planet was going explode due to the irreversible damage done to it's core caused by magical earthquakes.

-Warning systems (If not sabotaged) used to detect when the air is being poisoned and not safe to breathe.

-As was explained earlier, the visors worn on battle suits are also miniature computers that can access data and analyze objects and beings. (Note: if the database holds no record of the object or being... no information can be given)

-Memory machines, used in courtrooms or interogations: Much like lie detectors that can also show images on a screen of just what you've been up to, making it impossible to lie in court. (You cannot lie to yourself) The machine also has the power to determine if your brainwaves have been altered unnaturally (by magic, or medicine) so it can tell if you've been trying to cover the truth.

ENTERTAINMENT

This is where both races are similar.

Equestria has video games... Starfleet has video simulations used for training (Which is like a video game)

Also, some of their board games are magically enhanced to take you right inside like an actual life-sized playing version. (It's all illusion, there is no harm that can be done)

EXAMPLE: In Season 3: At Celestia's birthday, they all played a game of Ship-Battles (Battleship) In which player acre actual on an ocean and fighting in actual ships, dressed as pirates and sailors, and attempt to sink the enemy fleet. (again, it is only magical/virtual illusion)

Starfleet could have movies, but they prefer theater and ballet.

As the movie explained, these things of entertainment are not exactly required.

One thing they do have is a Holographic-Music-Imager (HMI) Similar to a CD. It's a disk that can record an Animated Music Video one it, complete with effects and everything, and the user can then activate it and watch the holographic-images it wherever they are.

EXAMPLE: Season 4 when Spike wrote a song to confess his ultimate feelings for Rarity.

Then again, as the videos explained, these things are no exactly needed as such as there are other ways to be entertained and all that, and then again Starfleet is usually too busy to have too much time for things like this anyway. (It's also usually not part of the plot of the story)

ORDINARY TOOLS AND APPLIANCES

Most technoligies between the two races are similar, but there are differences.

Equestrians use candles and light-bulbs, while Starfleet uses transistorized energy sourced lights, which are brighter, and last much longer.

The Farmers use horse-pulling plows and early-style tractors to plow fields.

Starfleet (though unseen) would use lasers, or a Starfleet officer would just dig through the ground with their bare-hands, like this...

Because Space Ponies have dragonball strength, they can do it much faster than a plow (Though that's not really technology)

They also have special devices built into power-poles and lampposts, which can be unlocked with special keys (Given only to Starfleet officers) in which is a control box, and when activated, these devices send out ultra-sonic activation waves that automatically trigger a pony's energizer or emergency programs in homes to help in times of danger.

EXAMPLE: Season 5: The atmosphere was poisoned and ponies were losing consciousness, unable to breath. The power pole program was used to activate emergency reportorial masks to be activated and appear instantly over ponies' faces, giving them fresh air to breath.

I think that about covers in...

The way I write it, and WISH it to be in my own world, Starfleet DOES have some highly more advanced tech, knowledge, and magic than Equestrians do.

*claps*amazing info*I actually forgot equestria has video games* i wonder they would incorporate magic into tech at some point in the future

4710912

Well I already did that in Power Rangers Super Starfleet...

4710922
I haven't read so I didn't know•-•

Hello!

If I may ask, why the need to compare the two tech levels?
I mean, I feel as though those people who do read Starfleet would know already and those who don't won't find much use for it.

I am guessing this is just some lore entry, though in that case, you can probably ignore the MLP tech. I mean, between the tech levels in Ponyville and Manehattan, it's quite clear the authors themselves don't know if it's kinda medieval or modern. Either way, it' should be obvious Starfleet has them beat on that domain.

Also, solar power is actually pretty bad. I mean, yes it's a clean source, but it's very inefficient (I'd add unleriable, but since Equestria, and Starfleet I'm sure, can control the weather that part is moot) and nowhere near enough for such heavy things as trains. Furthermore, how would the trains work at night?

4712454

People keep yaking at me that their tech is NOT superior

4712471

I thought it was obvious from the title itself.

I have a feeling those people who claim that know it too but say that anyways just to get a rise out of you. In which case, not actually addressing them in your blog, as you did, is probably the best thing you could do.
The worst treatment to an attention-seeker is being ignored after all.

4712477

Like I keep telling you, it doesn't matter what's done... the Finks never change.

that's also why I feel I don't owe my audience a THING. Not if they'll just act like this

4712454

Also How would the trains work at night?

Two things

1 (This was said) The sunlight is reflected off the moon. Moonlight is actually just weaker sunlight, so it's the same stuff.

2: You obviously don't know that solar power can be STORED. Those trains absorbed enough power to run quite a long ways. (At least a few days) the sun doesn't have to be shining directly on the trains all the time. If it is anyway... all the better, less stored energy wasted

4712485
Ok, but in that case, solar power in your fix is very different from real solar power.

I mean, in real life, the moon's light is negligible, and even during the day, solar power couldn't run a single train even if the train, every part of the tracks and the stations are covered in solar panels.

4712480
Yes, I understand what you mean.

I kinda disagree about nothing changing, but let's leave it at that.

4712517

solar power couldn't run a single train even if the train, every part of the tracks and the stations are covered in solar panels.

https://www.engadget.com/2017/07/18/india-first-solar-powered-train/

Care to rethink that? Looks like they ARE possible... and you also forget some of Starfleet's tech is supposed to be DISTANT FUTURE like.

Seriously, this is another reason why I don't feel I owe my audience anything. (they don't READ and they don't LEARN)

4712522

The train will still be pulled by a diesel locomotive; the solar panels will only power passenger comfort systems, such as lights, information displays and fans.

As a matter of fact, yes I do. Solar power has some limitions, which prevent it from replacing other power sources.
There is a solution to solar power: a Dyson sphere. Basically, a large array of panels orbiting the sun, capturing a large percentage of its output. It's considered something really high-tech, way beyond the ability of current Earth to produce, but I'm pretty sure Starfleet should be able to handle it.
Then, you'd have enough energy to power the whole planet and the military bases in space too.

4712525

again... DISTANT FUTURE LIKE... seriously, can you not see those three words?

4712528

I do see those words. Which is why I said that:

Ok, but in that case, solar power in your fic is very different from real solar power.

Your fic, future tech, or whatever can make it work. But, like I said, in real life, it's pretty much impossible. It's not a matter of tech, it's the fact that there is a fixed limit to how much solar power can produce. It cannot make more power than the sun shines down on it.

4712543

That does it,

Looks like I may have to outlaw trains then... if these complaints keep up

4712544
I'm sorry but, have I been complaining?

As far as I'm concerned, I was having a friendly chat. I even offered the idea of Dyson Sphere's, which is both cool and a strong sign of a very advanced civilization. I thought you'd be happy about it.

4712549

I don't know anything about Dyson, and neither do ponies... therefore it's not permitted.

It's either solar, or nothing.

4712550

Alright, solar it is then!

One question, when you say ponies don't know what it is, you mean the Equestrian ponies or Starfleet?
I just want to clear that up.

4712551

Neither as far as I know...

And besides, don't dysons cause heat?

4712552

How much heat they will get depends on how close or far they are placed from the star. Imagine it like solar panels orbiting the star, absorbing then beaming their energy to either the planet or wherever you need it.

As for how exatly it works, well, we humans don't have the means or materials to make one as of now, nor do we have the means to transmit that energy from the sphere to earth in a useful way (if we chose to focus it all on earth, we'd just end up with the equivalent of the death star permanently shooting its main laser at us!).

Then again, if you, the author wills it, then Starfleet can make one and has figured how to safely transfer all that energy.

If you don't, then stick with solar panel. As we both know, it's your fic after all.

4712556

No, no... my dyson vaccum, which is powered by Electricity as well, gets really hot after use.

4712471
How the heck are they not you said it yourself starfleet's technology is futuristic

4712517
Tho to be fair this an equestrian sun and moon and with magic added to the mix

4712631

Peopel are just being idiots... especially Legendbringer, who keeps asking questions that were answered to him TIME and AGAIN

4712633
Then don't answer him you only giving what he wants and it may seem it won't matter with some questions but when ask same questions so many times by the same person*unless it was someone personating as him* saying no shows you are aware of his attempts of raging you which he may want.ignoring a troll is the best way to deal with. The end result would the troll raging for your attention

4712640

Ignoring a troll doesn't work, it just give them even more power...

4712643
How would you please explain me good sir if you don't mind?

honestly can't tell if you seriously believe everything you say or are the worlds most dedicated troll.

4713878

Maybe it's neither...
