I Have Returned · 12:09am Oct 9th, 2017
What can I say? There is absolutely no excuse...it has been two years and seven months since I last updated. I could say life got in the way, but I've since discovered that if someone truly wants to do something, they will find the time. I suppose that implies I didn't want to finish writing this, which in some ways is true. That spark I had when I first got into MLP:FIM was gone for a very long time.
But it has returned, burning brightly. The fandom has changed, and perhaps even shrunk, the Bronies no longer being as ubiquitous as when I began this fanfic. I'm sure some of my readers have since moved on, no longer interested in reading about colorful ponies being awesome. I know some of my friends have left the fandom, and even view their bronies days with contempt and shame. Yet I've learned that the fandom still beats with life and vigor: the situation in fact reminds me of an essay I read concerning the differences between the classical Roman Empire and its medieval continuation Byzantium. What exists now will probably never have the same prominence and visibility, and always live in the shadow of its predecessor, but what we have now is in many ways more unified, consolidated, and sophisticated.
Nevermind.
Leading up to this update, I reread the entire story. I edited any spelling and grammatical errors, and changed a bit of the presentation to make it more polished. Nothing important was changed regarding the story, however. I cannot guarantee that what I edited is perfect, but it was an exhaustive effort. I also revised some of the rules and grammar of the Alicorn Language I invented for the story, to make it more logical instead of the ad hoc paradigm I was using at the beginning.
I have written just about everyday for the past couple weeks, and found that to be a production strategy. I intend to continue this fiction until the story of the Wanderer of the North is told in its entirety. I cannot promise anything like consistent updates, but I will resume work diligently. I have one chapter to post today, and I shall post the other tomorrow afternoon.
For those of you who messaged me asking about the story, I must say from the bottom of my heart I am truly sorry for not replying. I didn't want to assure you the story would continue and then have nothing to show of it. If any of you stuck around (and my cutoff for hiatic fics is one year) then...thank you so much. I am ever grateful and blessed to have such remarkable fans, and I hope more than anything I can at least win back at least a modicum of good faith.
There is nothing else I can say, and certainly nothing I can do to deserve your support.
My body is ready.
I am excited! This is the best "prequel fic" I've read. Excited it's alive.

It's actually a lot of fun writing this story again. And as for two updates in a week...it's the least I could for you guys.

Might as well have in fanfiction years...
I didn't think you were ever coming back. I thought you may have spent too much time diddling and lost yourself, but what a glorious return we have!

I did lose myself, but I became stronger than the diddling.
