An important story. · 11:43pm Sep 10th, 2017

Alrighty so.

I don't normally do this sort of thing, normally my blogs are just status updates, story recs, or practical stuff, but an Eldritch Demon commanded me to so I'm doing it.

Long story short, I came upon a box of old LP records from an elderly extended-relative. Being a hobbyist collector myself, I perused it. It's mostly 70s and 80s albums, largely German and Jazz oriented, with a few classical and prog throughout. Looking through a dude's record collection is like a rite of passage into getting to know them as a person, i feel like.

So yeah if you're not following me... I'm talking, like, obscure fucking shit here. Worth 25-cents at a hock-shop and a helluva lot more to whoever once owned it. One of the records I came across was this little gem. It's a record by a German Jazz-Fusion ensemble formed in the early 1970s, although they've been consistently making albums up until the present day despite lacklustre commercial success.

One look at the album cover, and I knew I was in for a treat.

Yeah. So if that doesn't establish what you're in for with this, I don't know what will.

You guys aren't fucking ready for this shit I swear.

There it is. Put it on. Got good headphones? Use em. You're in for a fucking treat.

I'm being dead fucking serious here, I listened to both sides of this beast and I loved every moment of it. This is like some long-lost Vangelis shit.

Can we get Passport in to score the new Blade Runner? These dudes legit need some recognition.

I like this eldritch demon. Sacrifice infants in their name.

Duuuuuuuud this was so fucking sick. Thanks for turning me onto this. I fucking love Prog rock and hard bop, and this has elements of both. Actually the first half made me think of a chase scene in Cowboy Bebop since the composer for that series ( Forget her name) used a bebop aesthetic.

I'm going to try to check out more of their stuff. Thank you again.

That was definitely different from anything I have ever listened to in my life.

I will laugh my self silly if a post on a website for fanfiction of a little girl's cartoon about magical talking horses obsessed with friendship puts these guys on the map.

Let's make it happen.:rainbowdetermined2:

This is great stuff :o definitely like a mix of the sort of 70s prog I listen to with the precursor to something like Snarky Puppy. Anything else of note in the bin?

An OG pressing of 'The Yes Album' by Yes stuck out as a nice find, and a good collection of Rick Wakeman's solo stuff as well. There were also a few Beethoven records I took.

I aim to look at the bin more closely today, will report back with any big finds.

http://www.allmusic.com/artist/passport-mn0000790434/discography dude all their album covers are weird and many of them include sunglasses

I just like how many of them are plays on the word 'Passport'.

And I kinda hate myself for ordering like 5 Passport albums off Discogs.

don't. I listened to the first two and they're amazing.
