But hey, I enjoy writing it, and that’s still what matters the most.

And I’ve already got ~500 words written for the spinoff that begins from that chapter, anyways...

The main problem is the length. The entirety of the story is short, but that "Alternate ending" is literally just three paragraphs and is written as though there was no effort put into it.

It's the equivalent of telling a cool story and then going "Oh, this happened too"

Sorry... the alternate ending was basically just a bonus chapter of sorts to lead into a separate spinoff story that I have in the works. Sorry if you didn’t like it. Would you like for me to try and expand the chapter a bit?

It's all well and good that it leads into something else, but you've gotta put the same effort into it as you do every other chapter.

You cant just write an exciting story, then add a bridge that says "This happens"
