Spitfire and Sunburst are cousins. They're an unlikely pair, but they make do with what they have.

    some cover arts

Hi there! Been hellishly busy lately, especially now that everything's returning to some variation of normal.

Did a fair bit of ponywords in spite of that, both new and old. Though I haven't really been keeping you guys up to date on the deetz since... Christmas, looks like. Time to rectify that.

    Merry Christmas!

I had been busy prepping something thematic for the occasion but alas, I couldn't finish in time.

    So have another story instead!

    a quick September / October check-in

First off, not dead! That's a start!

Second off, got vaxxed, which may or may not have played a part in the whole not being dead thing. Aftermath of the first jab was hell. Second one apparently was too, according to my upper arm. Otherwise, all's good!

#108 — Insight On The 'Tales', Work On Old Stories, Albums This Month, Dunkirk · 6:57pm Jul 24th, 2017

WritingSpirit here, guzzling coffee at 2AM in the morning (Not Recommended) and ready to go!

As of now, I've been on what would be the opposite of a Writer's Block (A writing spirit, per se) for quite some time, as one might be able to tell from the sudden influx of stuff that I've been putting out, including Chapter 7 of Feyspeak.

So, in the past week, I've published two new one-shots: Shatter, Silence. Shatter. and A Copper Cicada, Underground, both of which belong to a 33-part collection of stories based around the soundtrack of the anime 'Terror In Resonance', with the tracks adapted for the first two tales listed below.

Tale I: Shatter, Silence. Shatter

Tale II: A Copper Cicada, Underground

Basically, all the tales are set in the same universe, with each one of them centering on a different cast of characters each time around. They can all serve to be standalone stories, but at the same time, there will be little tidbits you can pick up that would give a superfluous idea of why every one of these things are happening. Right now, I'm working on both Tale III and Tale IV at the same time, and I've already decided on their names and the songs they would be adapted from.

Tale III: Cascade! Clouds Above, Obfuscate!

Tale IV: Decadence, As Performed By Four Calling Birds

So that's all the insight I can give you on the tales so far. It might get a little confusing later on, but it should all make sense by the last few tales. You guys have to wait and see!

Also, if you've seen my progress update, I've also been returning my focus to my older stuff that hadn't seen an update in two years. I've started with Perhaps Death, mostly because the Whovian in me's really anxious on seeing it through, especially with all the new changes on the show. I've no intentions to include the 13th Doctor into the story, that's for sure, but her introduction was spurring me on to continue the story from where it's left off.

Diprosopus is still at a standstill. It being one of my oldest work in a trilogy that started out as my first story on this site five years ago might have something to do with it. Sometimes, I look back at it and I actually find its plot points laughable now, albeit in an endearing sort of way. Nevertheless, I plan to see it to the end, though it remains uncertain as to whether that plan is feasible enough right now.

Lovely Days was something I find myself wanting to return to. With all the hell I've planned for this story, it's definitely something I'll be getting back to soon, though right now I'm tweaking certain elements a little. It shouldn't affect all the things established in the published chapters, so it all should be fine.

Last but not least, my Porter Robinson inspired Worlds, a story which required me to draft out every character's bio, every location info, every biological data of flora and fauna encountered, even writing a thesis-worthy exploration into the physics of the world. This story shall take a long time, for each chapter is long, excruciatingly so. The second chapter will be clocking in at 30,000 words minimum, and the rest will only get longer from there. I plan to release all the remaining chapters in one go, which means it'll be a long, long while before you'll get the story in your notification box.

One last thing, I had the chance to catch Dunkirk and good god, it was amazing. There's really a lot to take in, a lot of atmosphere to be soaked into, just... Nolan outdid himself this time. He even managed to insert his time-bending skills to make the story a little more intriguing, and intrigue me it did.

I understand that there are some people who go in expecting this to be like Hacksaw Ridge or Saving Private Ryan, but this is a lot more different than that. Those two films usually focus on a fixed set of characters, all sharing a relationship with each other. Dunkirk, on the other hand, had multiple sets of characters that only correlate to each other. There's no bond between them, only acknowledgement of the other as an ally.

Another thing that I say would differ it from most war movies I know of is that the action is subdued. There's a layer of nuance between characters, so scenes where you would expect the characters to burst out in anger and get into fist fights may only be followed with a nod of contempt. The movie's trailer really reflects this part of it well, to be honest.

Nevertheless, in my personal experience while watching the movie, I was hanging at the edge of my seat. Somehow, Nolan managed to keep the tension hanging at my neck throughout the whole time. He reinforced me into not only as a viewer, but also as a character in his film, facing the anxieties and worries that the soldiers faced. All of it is aided only by the scale of it all, which is insane when I reflect upon it. This is definitely one of my favorites so far in the year.

Any opinions on the movie, or anything else I mentioned above, don't hesitate to let me know! I'll be sure to answer them in every way I can!

WritingSpirit, signing out until then!
