R.I.P Peter Sallis · 7:54pm Jun 5th, 2017
Peter Sallis, the voice of Wallace in Wallace and Gromit up until recently, passed away on Friday, June 2, he was 96 years old.
Though most famous for the role of Norman “Cleggy” Clegg in the British sitcom Last of the Summer Wine (the only actor to appear in all 295 episodes of the show between 1973 and 2010), Peter attracted a lot of attention and a whole new generation of fans when he agreed to be the voice of Wallace in Nick Park’s clay motion shorts Wallace and Gromit, starting with 1989’s A Grand Day Out. Sallis also voiced Wallace in Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2007 (distributed by Dreamworks), and the two spin-off short series centered on the pair Cracking Contraptions and World of Invention.
Though Sallis stepped away from the role of Wallace following declining health and has been succeeded in the role for many years, it is still sad to see him go. In his memory, I dedicate the Wallace and Gromit theme.
Aww man! I love W&G and ive always wondered what other stuff he did. R.I.P
Now, this is the kind of chap who definitely deserves a memorandum. At least he had a decent innings, though. R.I.P indeed. :(
At Lest he died with his family near him, at lest it was a Natural death.
