Addendum to the previous update (spoilers galore) · 12:48am May 4th, 2017
So, uh... I don't actually know what to make of issue #53 of the comics.
There was basically a whole bunch of nothing, with Sir Only Appearing In The Comic going on about how this season's finale villain was his ancestor and now he thinks the same evil that made the villain is affecting him. Then he goes "Oh no, by erasing all mention of my ancestor I've forgotten everything about him, including his name and how to stop him." And then he leaves forever.
Oh, and then we got a picture of this season's villain:
Like I said, not really sure what to make of that. I mean, it looks kind of changelingish-y, right? Sort of around the face? Although that might have more to do with the fact that he's apparently completely bald (maybe that's why he's so angry?). He's also got those wing holes, and that V-neck thing changelings have. Honestly, it's hard to tell what that's supposed to be. It seems to intentionally have missing details. The odds of it being are changeling of sometime are awfully low, though, considering the pony said it was his ancestor.
Really, it's pretty much what I was expecting; they hyped it up as 'tying in to season 7' and then gave hints so vague as to be basically useless. They don't want to give away too much about the finale, of course. I guess I was just hoping for something more than 'Hey, there's going to be a villain at the end of this season. Surprise!"
On a mostly unrelated note, the first preview for Legends of Magic issue #2 went up. Sunburst's magic is still inexplicably green (although the yellow gradient at its center does seem more prominent this time around).
Looks like a male alicorn, perhaps ascended by dark magics. Or an imitation of one. The wings seem to originate from the v thing.
Not having read any relevant comics I can't say for sure but it could be that this is the final form of an artifact like the alicorn amulet.
Looks like they aren't bald, they just have an ethereal mane. Least that is what it looks like to me since something originating from the head and neck is obscuring their right wing.

Yeah, it's really hard to tell what's going on there. I agree about the mane thing, it's just placed really weird. It should be running down the center of the head and meeting up with the horn, but instead it appears to be behind the head, making him look bald.
In any case, as I said there is probably a massive amount of detail missing in the picture. I doubt they'd want to give us a full, detailed look at the villain of the finale.
4520463 true, plus I doubt the artist had long to look at the villain before having to flee for their lives, the details can get a bit fuzzy in situations like that,
I hit too many bad ones to keep reading the comics, so I'm not really surprised to hear they failed to deliver here.

Oh, that's a mane? I thought it was a crest or fin.
