Lyra's song is done! · 1:44am Apr 28th, 2017

Quick update: I'm about halfway through chapter 18 at the moment.

Now for the Real News: I figured it's about time to overcome my childhood trauma from playing Hot Cross Buns and get out my mum's old recorder. :P This is my first serious foray into songwriting, so I hope you like it, but don't lie if it's terrible. I have my wonderful flatmate, Steph Cinder*, to thank for the guitar playing. And if you get the reference in the song, I love you.

So, in short, that means Lyra's song, "The Wanderer's Heart," is finally done! Look forward to hearing it in the final cut of chapter 17, folks! Of course, you can also listen and download it all by its lonesome ahead of time on the Pirene bandcamp here. It sounds best with headphones in. :)

*Stage name. I'm not having folks look her up on the interwebs without her permission! :P

Ideally, all of them o.o

4513050 Soon, soon :D The narration is the truly arduous part. Sitting and listening to myself flub lines I can do all day :P

Derailing oPinion here.

I bet the lyrics would make a great choral song. Something like a Bulgarian women's chorus, or something Eric Whitacre-esque.

4515496 Now why Bulgarian? :P
On the other one, a choir might work! The song was inspired partially by Enya, but mostly by traditional Celtic music. With a bit extra instrumentation (maybe actual lyres and bagpipes?), a choir could bring a different, heavier sort of drama to it.

4516607 When I mentioned those two examples, I was referring to something only using vocals. They do all the heavylifting of the song, and it works beautifully.

Bulgarian women's choir was my introduction to that kind of intense vocal performance. Here's a scene featuring it that made the whole documentary for me (49:59).

But if you wanna get more "contemporary," look up anything by Eric Whitacre. I think that's what I was originally getting at.

4516952 The video starts at the beginning for me. Around what time is the specific scene?
