    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

S7 Premiere Thoughts · 4:57am Apr 16th, 2017

I might as well do this. After all, I watched the premiere, and I figure you guys deserve to know my stance on the episodes. Will I do this for every episode as they air? I dunno, depends on if I remember (though it's probably best if I skip the thoughts on Rock Solid Friendship, as that would be me throwing a tantrum about a certain character I cannot stand).

Celestial Advice

~Holy crap, Spike, that Rarity impression!

~So they have an Equestrian Medal of Honor thingy (forgot what it's called)? Neat, I oughta put that in my mental file for any 'saving Equestria' stories I write. *looks at Escape from the Dreamscape, that being a 'save Equestria' situation* Question is who saves the day there...

~Not gonna lie, I laughed when Luna had problems putting Thorax's medal on because of those dang horns. XD

~Heh, I think the 'magical beetle deer' look for the changelings grew on me.

~D'aw, I can't help but find proud teacher Twilight cute.

~Thank you for bringing that up, Discord. Now Twilight's in panicky overthinking mode. Good thing Celestia's willing to listen to Twi's concerns.

~Pfft, the Changeling fantasy is so dumb it's funny (and their mention of honeysuckles had me thinking of an OC of mine with the same name). Also, why does the troublemaker Changeling's design make me think of Applejack?

~It must be awkward having your name used as a swear.

~The dragon fantasy is even dumber! I was cringing at the stereotypical jock greeting between Ember and Starlight. Even Spike thought it was ridiculous. Why did you imagine that Twilight...?

~I was actually in agreement with the Sunburst idea. Too bad Twilight imagined a 'magic circle gone wrong' scenario (and one that materializes an item lost in the past... sounds suspiciously familiar... well, no limbs were lost, but two ponies got sucked into the void).

~And cue Celestia to calm the worrywart fears. This was a really nice scene, especially when we get to see Celestia's POV for sending Twilight away back in the day. And the affirmation that Twilight will always need her, even when she has grown a lot and achieved so much... it's really touching. Now, for the announcement that Discord was goading Twilight to make...

~Thanks for mentioning cheese and making a cheese pun Discord. You reminded me of best pony and how much I miss him. :pinkiesad2:

~Aaaaaand Starlight's not going anywhere. Well, I'm not all that fond of Starlight because I don't know just who she is besides "reformed villain" and "serious anxiety", and I feel that she drags episodes down (aside from her villain roles, she rocks those). Eh, but I suppose that with her recent development and maybe better episodes, I could warm up to her...

All-in-all, it's an alright episode, though I honestly find it a little dull.

All Bottled Up

~Wow, looks like Trixie's getting some magic lessons. Maybe with a lot of practice (a lot), she could be as powerful as her past fanon version that could somehow rival Twilight! Ah hurr hurr hurr... geez, general fandom ideas are annoying...

~Pretzels. I'd be annoyed too, Starlight.

~You know, when watching, I thought the friendship retreat was going to be something completely offscreen and up to the audience's imagination... and then we find that Twilight set up a adventure in an Escape Room. I did not see that coming--though when I saw the room and how jungle-themed it was, I expected Rainbow to mention Daring Do in some way (I was disappointed when she didn't). I also imagined that Quibble Pants would have a blast in that room. :rainbowlaugh:

~Good thinking getting out of the way, Spike.

~I read the sypnosis for this episode, and yet I expected the apple to explode instead of the Map disappearing. Way to go, Sketch, you lose points for forgetfulness. :ajbemused:

~Hah. She's literally bottling her anger.

~I don't blame Starlight for being mad; Trixie's being absolutely annoying in this episode! Sheesh, I'd have been stomping and tensing up just from the stress... though, I can't put my anger in a literal bottle, but I can relate to keeping feelings bottled up. Though, I usually vent by playing Phase Ten on Facebook and screaming at the stupid bots.

~Well, that's an interesting way for things to go wrong. Getting infected by somebody else's anger is... weird...

~WHY ARE YOU SINGING, TWILIGHT AND CO.?! That song's random, corny, and stupid. I get that it's supposed to be a joke, but I don't find it funny. Next time, make sure you actually finish the game before you start singing... and sing a better song!

~You wear many hats? Bulk, how many jobs do you have?

~Hm, yeah, Trixie, you needed to hear that. And Starlight was kind of boring... but, at least this episode had me warming up to her. Like I said, I can relate to keeping feelings bottled up. I don't like making people upset, and I'm always the bad guy in those situations...

~And they manage to get the table back in time. Also, Trixie's mention of a spell for ponies to forget had me recoiling in horror for a moment before I realized a certain memory-removing spell in a certain fanfic of mine was not canon. The canon spell's most likely a mind wipe thing; that's most likely a whole lot less painful than the one I've got...

Save for the annoying Trixie bits and the song, I enjoyed the episode. I kind of wish it was longer, and that we didn't have to have a subplot focusing on the friendship retreat (or, maybe that could have been an episode of its own, given that there's a writer talented enough to pull it off).

Anyway, that's all I got in the way of thoughts. See you next time. :pinkiehappy:
