MLP Fakies: Lalaloopsy Ponies

MGA Entertainment (also famous for their Bratz toy line) made another line of dolls known as Lalaloopsy. The Lalaloopsy dolls are actually look pretty unique. Although I would never own one myself (or really any other doll as they kind of freak me out) I can definitely see their appeal to collectors.

Here is an example of what a Lalaloopsy doll looks like.

MGA Entertainment also made a line of ponies to go along with their doll toy line. These ponies are known as Lalaloopsy Ponies. The Lalaloopsy Ponies come in four varieties; Lalaloopsy Baby Ponies, Lalaloopsy Ponies, Lalaloopsy Ponies Plushies, and Lalaloopsy Ponies Tinies/ Minis. The Tinies/Minis usually come in a three pack and are marked as 'Carousel' collector toys.

Here are some examples of what the Lalaloopsy Ponies look like.

The design of the ponies is pretty unique. I wouldn't mind drawing some OCs in this style. I've heard that the animated movies that occasionally come packaged with the Lalaloopsy Ponies are pretty bad though. It's too bad because the actual line of toys stands out from similar brands. It seems like they could make more of this in terms of a better produced animated show and maybe even some movies if they tried.

Yeah, what LaLaLoopsie do best is interpreting classic stories in there style. They're minimalist, yet terribly cute and capture all the nuances; which seems to be a contradiction, but it isn't. My wife collects Alice in Wonderland, and she was over the moon about the Alice LaLaLoopies Alice collection I bought her.

For original content? Not so much here.

4491101 I have to say that I actually like the style of both the regular Lalaloopsy doll line and their Lalaloopsy Ponies toy line. Something that this toy line deserves credit for is that it actually looks vastly different (in a good way) than most of the other dolls or figures that are on the market that all kind of blend together.

It would be neat if they added other brands to their Lalaloopsy toy line. For example, they made Avenger Lalaloopsy dolls, or Thor Lalaloopsy dolls, or Batman Lalaloopsy dolls. You get the idea. Because it would be neat to see all sorts of different characters in the Lalaloopsy style. They are missing out on something by not partnering with other brands to make collector dolls.

4491112 Oh,that is totally true!

4491116 I could see them being like those Pop Vinyl Figures which make Pop versions of practically everything under the sun so you can collect any kind of figure you want. :)

I remember when Lalaloopsy first came to the store I work at. I was a little bit freaked out cuz of those button eyes. You see, I think it was maybe a few month before or maybe a year before, Coraline hit theatres. Ooo, those button eyes of Other Mother... spooky. Their eyes are one of their unique features I've liked.

4491318 I actually like the buttons on the dolls. They make them look unique. And I also love the movie Coraline. Coraline didn't scare me though. But then again, not much really freaks me out. :P

I see nightmares of string....

4491647 Oooo. I get it now. XD I liked the scenes where she went into the 'doll world' and interacted with the doll parents. It was pretty interesting. Even when they turned all evil and creepy. XD
