Hi everyone.
I've got some free time and I just found out that the live-action Beauty and the Beast did well and I had a thought.
I never got to watch the Hunchback of Notre Dame until recently which meant Frollo's really dark and edgy themes were taken as they were implied to be (Psychologically abusing Quasimodo and sexually assaulting Esmeralda).
But I was watching his interactions with Quasimodo and I had a thought.
This kind of reminds me of Countess Magnifying Glass.
If anyone's got a moment, I want my readers to watch these scenes and picture Frollo as the Countess and Quasimodo as Derpy.
Do you see it? Slightly?

I wouldn't say it's Disney's best film (I'm still uncertain on that front) but it's arguably their deepest.
One thing, just because a movie performs well aldoesnt mean it's good (Bayformers anyone) even if it gets positive reviews (Maleficent). Personally if I what to watch La Belle et Le Beut, I'll pop in the 1992 VHS, Emma Waston is no Paige O'Hare.

4489482 I am borderline leaning towards insulted that it has been received as well as it has. Emma Watson was a meh actor at best even in Harry Potter, Luke Evans, Ewan McGregor, and Ian McKellen deserve to be in vastly better films and the Beast... he looks like a rejected satyr from "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe"... and it fails demonstrably to recreate the magic of the animated masterpiece, and that's not just my opinion.
and that's just looking at the new film by itself.

Great, so it's not just me.
I mean, in some ways Frollo seems too nice (And I never thought I'd say that), at least in terms of the façade but the theme is there. She is telling Derpy the exact opposite of what the characters and fanbase tell her. She is forcing her to believe that she is judged solely on her handicap and no-one will ever accept her.
It frightens you to think how long this went on for and how Derpy worked up the courage to leave.
