I Need To Make Something Clear

I know I've been very absent lately but I still give advice to writers now and again as PMs. Lately there's been a problem which I need to remedy.

    My OCs are my own.
Characters such as Cascadius, Colonel Peregrine, Nancy, Blue Murder, Tybalt, Shadowplay, Tungsten and others.

    Putting My Webcomic Out There

Hi guys. Just to show you what I've been working on all this time.
Deviantart and Tumblr are a bit...let's say shaky right now in terms of putting your art out there and I've been looking for more specialised sites for my webcomic.
So I've finally got a Tapas page.
    The Tale Of Cao Aman

    27 Today And Some News

Hi everybody. Sorry I've been so distant lately.
Twenty-Seven years old today...and I'm told I still look seventeen. Don't ask me what my secret is, I'm just as puzzled, but not complaining.

So I've Heard About The Rings Of Power

So I'm actually quite looking forward to The Rings Of Power, the soon-to-be cinematic series based on Tolkien's Middle-Earth lore. The Lord of the Rings is probably my favourite film trilogy and, while it's debated to this day, I really enjoyed The Hobbit series.

So I've Heard About The Rings Of Power · 8:37pm Mar 20th, 2022

So I'm actually quite looking forward to The Rings Of Power, the soon-to-be cinematic series based on Tolkien's Middle-Earth lore. The Lord of the Rings is probably my favourite film trilogy and, while it's debated to this day, I really enjoyed The Hobbit series.
And there's something I feel I need to say...
I get that Amazon is...not a perfect company run by perfect people. I won't say anything else about that because frankly...I don't consider it relevant.
It is in charge of the production, distribution and streaming. Jeff Bezos is not sitting in the director's chair. I would be surprised if he even watched the thing.
If you like LotR and are enthusiastic about what gets made in the Middle-Earth Legendarium, it really shouldn't matter to you. Warner Bros weren't playing fair while making LotR and The Hobbit either, it's why they had to let the rights go afterward.
If you don't want to give Amazon money then guess what...
Protesting it online and trying to convince people to shut it down is going to get them a lot of money.
Have you ever wondered why The Emoji Movie made back its budget while Foodfight caused its studio to collapse. It's because of people complaining about it simply being a concept online and causing people to want to see it purely to determine if it was as bad as they said.
In film-making, there is rarely, if ever, such a thing as bad publicity.
What happens when a piece of media is boycotted or openly vilified by fans before it is released?
It's still released, people go and watch it, the executives the fans have been hoping to destroy are enriched, the creative people writing, designing and performing it get publicly and horribly humiliated (Some never finding work again) and a bunch of sad freaks online develop delusions of grandeur and spend the next ten years blaming everybody but themselves.
Total self-defeat.
At what point do these people realise this doesn't work?
Oh, and while this has been going on, those protesting the release of The Rings of Power have been touting this line from the trailers as if it's Tolkien's own condemnation of the show from beyond the grave.

"Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made."

Nice. Very telling. Perfectly sums up the fans rhetoric in regards to corporations misusing and disregarding age-old works of fiction and mocking its fans for corporate gain...
Except Tolkien never wrote that!
The line is a creation by one of the writers currently working on the Rings Of Power.
So their slogan is based on something that contradicts their argument, that being, corporate -creative teams can still make something that is worthwhile, speaks to the audience and is worth giving a chance.

Good Omens was released by Amazon. I bloody loved it! And I didn't see Neil Gaiman or Rhianna Pratchett trying to shut it down.
If you have an axe to grind with Amazon, fine. You're not alone. But please leave the creative team behind The Rings Of Power out of it. Do not take your anger out on people whose only crime is trying to make this show work during a very difficult period in our history.
That's all I mean to say.

hope you enjoy it, like the picard show very much.

Reminds me, a old comic i found: Orks from WH40k with Lord of the rings, kinda

I'm not excited for Rings of Power.
I'm also not against it.
The trailer did almost nothing for me. Like I don't know any of the characters names, didn't even know that that one lady in the trailer was apparently supposed to be a dwarf. That's how little context the trailer gave me.
The only thing I thought was cool were the set pieces, it does look like Middle Earth.

So yeah, I hope the next trailer is better.
