Hey guys! It's been a while, hasn't it? You guys doing good? I hope so. I just got back from a long, strenuous shift at the hotel. Boy oh boy, that one was something. Very tired, but staying strong.
Anyway, I just want to talk to you guys about something: my stories. Recently, I sent "Tainted Colors" to two review groups and "Sunny in Philly" and "Comfort of a Snuggle Buddy" to one group. I had a gut feeling I'd get awesome reviews for the stories. I was wrong. The stories got a 4 to 6 out of 10 rating. Ouch.
Now, it's a little disheartening to see my "best" stories get ratings like these, but after reading what the reviewers input on the stories, their verdicts seem very fair. They were very thorough and I really appreciate their honesty. I'd rather be hit with the truth than comforted with a lie.
I have learned somethings through this process. Though these stories have likes that vastly outnumber the dislikes, that isn't enough to make a good story. Sure, it shows you can entertain an audience, but from a reviewing and critical standpoint, that doesn't essentially hold water. There's a lot I still need to learn and I feel these (sometimes very brutal) honest reviews can help me improve.
I guess more people should look at a story I write and give me feedback before I post. One day, I'd like to be in that feature box.
And besides, if you guys are already entertained with my writing, just imagine how awesome my stories would be when I learn to be a better writer.
To be fair though, my "Sunny in Philly" story wasn't supposed to be one of those "Best story of all time" things. But then again, I understand my reviewer's standpoint on the story and I greatly appreciate it!
But anyway, I'm just gonna keep improving and looking forward. I feel more confident than ever really! I'm gonna keep putting stuff out there for you guys. Please, any and all constructive criticism is appreciated. Anything to help me become a better writer, even if you have to be super blunt or brutally honest, is appreciated.
That's all I have to say guys! Thank you so much for being by my side and sticking with me. You guys rock. I'll try to pump out something for you soon. Key word "TRY".
Take care guys!
Don't forget to love each other!
'til next time!
