I'm a huge goddamn history nerd, with an extra emphasis on WWII. I've got a fic partway done with the basic premise of "Equestria exists on Earth and enters WWII," though boy howdy does it need editing. Trying to marry the optimistic, utopian MLP with a bitter reality is challenging, and I admit I have not been a large fan of human fics myself. But I like what I have so far - I feel historical flavor is maintained, but the ponies don't have their idealism crushed. Rather, they bring it with them, and make the world perhaps a tiny bit brighter. At the same time, covering the political, military, and social implications brings glee to my armchair general's heart.
Not my usual keep-it-light,-keep-it-bright style, but it's been good to write and has fueled me to study the period even more.
There are some more normal fics further down the pipeline, but mum's the word until I feel ready to commit to them.
