Happy Pre-Hearts and Hooves Day!

Short story time!

Did you enjoy My True Self? Did you wish that it had contained a longer scene set during Hearts and Hooves Day?

Well, this story probably won’t satisfy you, as it isn’t really about Bon Bon and Lyra. But it was originally intended to be part of My True Self. However, even before I began writing it, I realized that it was too long of a digression for its intended chapter – and more significantly, it was addressing a plot point that had already been resolved in the previous chapter.

Still, I liked this examination of Rarity’s professional experience with the holiday too much to abandon it completely. So instead, I turned it into a short story of its own.

Truth be told, I was hoping that Lyra wouldn’t need to come back after the beginning – I really liked the novelty of publishing a story in which Bon Bon and Rarity were the only two tagged characters. Alas, now that this is its own story instead of just a scene, it needed an ending. And it turns out that Lyra had her own interesting tale to tell, too.
