Sup, Bronies... My good friend found your response to be worthy of response! Since we both wanted everyone to see his counter-points to my somewhat sensationalized post, I decided to make a new blog post solely for him! This is him. The maker of bad bets... CodexStoic. Yes, he intentionally chose that name to appear as a foil to yours truly. I thought it was rather clever, myself.

Hello everyone!
I am the psychotic friend that Mr. CardsLafter is referring to in his humorous, whimsical, and (only slightly) inaccurate blog post.
First off, under the terms of our agreement, he is not prohibited from revising TTEOAP whilst working on his 50k word limit for NaNoWriMo. However, since he's writing a novel in a month, he will probably not wish to revise and edit his work during the month.
Second, my good friend's representations of the conversation are slightly misleading. I did cuss, whine, beg, nag, cajole, leverage and insinuate many things. However, the goals of this arrangement were not fairly represented. Although 'just to do it' sums up most of the argument I made, there were better reasons I gave him. The most important reason, though, is that he is a good writer, and has many wonderful ideas that he has yet to publish and share with anyone (including all of you, his adoring fans). I do want him to write and publish his non-pony related ideas, though, and seized upon this contest as a good way to inspire him to do so. This is not intended to prevent him from finishing his fanfic, but rather to get him to finally share other great works of art with the world.
In short, I have ignobly twisted your beloved fiction writer's arm for a noble purpose: namely, to get him to share more of his thoughts with the rest of the world. But, since I am decidedly "grimdark" and "psychotic," I have no regrets. I am confident that not only will he put out 50k words in a month, but also that he will put out something you and everyone else will enjoy.
I understand that you desire to see the final revised edition of TTEOAP, as soon as possible, and with as few interruptions as possible. I can sympathize somewhat with your plight, as I am a recovering Lostie. But, in the interests of friendship, all I ask is that you offer your support to him in this endeavor. I do not think you will be disappointed with the fruits of his labor.
And to all the people who have already offered their support, as a good friend of cardsLafter, it truly warms my cold, dark, bleak, and cynical heart that you all would tender such kindness to a friend. Your words of encouragement are a tribute to the show you all love, as that sort of friendship truly is magic.

P.S. For those of you who are aspiring writers, I would be more than happy to see you join cardsLafter and I in November. At the least, it would be an interesting experience, and you can tell your colleagues that you brushed shoulders and braved the dangers of NaNoWriMo with him.

@Codex: You have a very good point that cards DID seem to leave out in his last post. I don't know about anyone else, but i agree, cards is a very talented writer. He seems to not give himself enough credit for how good he actually is. I'm not a writer myself, but i'll try to help pound that into his head.
I think that's what those in the 'biz.... call 'crazy'... It's okay though, you're free to join the club. You'll be getting your gift basket and members' card in six to eight weeks.
@Cards: I absolutely LOVE your commentary. When i'm feeling down, i just grab a random chapter of TTEOAP, and by about the half way mark, i'm already laughing my ass off. You really are a better writer than you give yourself credit for. You may blow this comment off as nothing, but i want to make it absolutely clear here. You have an AMAZING talent, especially in being able to make stories funny. I normally don't laugh at anything, but TTOAP, (and it's rewrite) had me laughing more often than not. I can say i honestly love this story. And when it updates, i tend to drop about everything i'm doing, just to go get about an hour or two of laughs. That's really only just your comedy. I could probably write several pages on the rest, but that would sound... creepy at best, at least that's what one of the voices in my head says. The other just gives zero fucks about it.
True story: I fell out of my chair laughing at one point reading the rewrite. When my family asked what the hell was so funny, i referenced the story, and only one of my brothers got my reference. His reaction was nearly the same as mine, only he didn't fall over laughing (he caught himself before he fell). The rest of the family looked at us like we were crazy, (and i self-admittedly am... so there's that) and just proceeded to ignore my increasingly diabolical cackling. That same brother got me into MLP in the first place (about 10 weeks ago if my FimFiction account creation date is anything to go by), and i tuned him into TTOAP after i read the first two chapters of the original story myself.
So in parting cards... Take this challenge, and beat it's face in, metaphorically, of course.

378731 I know how you feel man, after a shitty day at work i would come home eat shower and read till i was tired an had to sleep, i read trought the original in like a week aside the last chapter wich was recently posted.
All in all if Cards can write non fics as great or better then this then he should go for it, broden your horizons.You never know what the futur holds.
In so many words "Do it filly!" Cards you should totally do this thing, and share your writings with us so that we may enjoy more awesomeness from your inner mind.
I'm ok with it as long as you keep writing TTEOAP till then, and you let us read what you wrote, finished or not.

I just barely won NaNo twice (2010, 2011) Then I found FIMFiction and wrote 300K in my first four months. Ponies make you write faster.
