    April, with many a day…

So I just spent from the third through today (sort of, still have some driving to do) on holiday. Went to Dallas to see the Eclipse in totality, swung though Hot Springs for… well, the hot springs, and finally St Louis for a lovely riverboat dinner before bidding the Boyfriend farewell and starting the trip home.

    Well, I started it...

All Good Things... has commenced. I may have a chapter of it up tonight.

I really want to start closing out the unfinished stories, but sometimes you just can't get back into the flow for them. Sorceress and the Siren is one, Into the Wilds is another. Which is sad cause I love writing Azure.

    Homecoming, in retrospect.

Homecoming as a series is a glorious mess. I’ve gone on short bits of fluff, created some … unique ships, twisted the fabric of canon EqG, and even touched on some dark topics.

    Don't you just hate it...

When you can't find something when you need to?

Case in point, I went looking for a comment where they alluded to It being like Frodo saving the Shire for everyone but himself and had to sail to another land to find solace.

But I can't remember what fic or anything else.

    And it's frustrating to me.

    Meanwhile, in other news...

    For those wondering....

    I am working on Truth.

“What are you doing here?” Sunset stammered as she gazed at her father. Emotions swirled inside of her, a maelstrom of feelings. Confusion, certainly. Some anger, long-simmered and cooled into bitterness. A bit of joy, but just a tiny bit.

    Mostly confusion though.

Red rubbed the back of his neck. “It’s a long story,” he hedged.

Ok, I'm going to step into it now.... · 4:44am Dec 31st, 2016

Sunset Shimmer is not best pony.

*dodges flung items* Let me finish!

She is not best pony because we see her for all of three minutes as a pony. Now if we had her return to Equestria for any length of canonical time, then yes, she would be best pony on my list.

She is currently best character by growth, followed closely now by Starlight Glimmer as of the end of season six.

Sigh...I said I wasn't going to do this....dammit.

Sunset Shimmer
DJ Pon-3
Luna
Applejack
Fluttershy
Rainbow Dash
Rarity
Cadence
Twilight Sparkle
Pinkie Pie
Starlight Glimmer
CMC
Celestia
Octavia
Muffins
Trixie

That's all I've got now, but feel free to share your rankings below! Believe me when I say that this list fluctuates. I used to have Rarity below Twilight and Cadence but above Pinkie.

Thorax hasn't had the screen time to gain a ranking yet, but I like the little guy.

Equestria Girls ranking

Sunset Shimmer
Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3
SciTwi
Fluttershy
Applejack
Twilight
Rainbow Dash
Rarity
Pinkie Pie
Sugarcoat - Just because it's funny.

And that's about it. The rest of the cast that I would enjoy as ponies are just pushed too far into the background to be enjoyed. Yes, there are some shorts where some get a bit more spotlight, like Octavia and Photo Finish, but it's too short to make enough of an impression on me. The movies focus on the Mane group and whatever plot they wind up foiling and the rest become comedic relief or random schoolmate to save #320. Maybe if we saw in a future movie where the friendship of the Mane 7 isn't enough to defeat the Big Bad and they had to include peripheral friends - like secondary cast members I.E. CMC, Muffins, Octavia, Sweetie Drops and Lyra, or even the human versions of Starlight Glimmer, Moon Dancer, and others that we've seen and made a connection with on the Equestria side of the mirror, then I'll revise the EG list.

For the Pinkie is best pony peeps out there: I don't hate Pinkie, and I admire her always cheery attitude, but there are aspects in others that I like more, like the strength Sunset had to have to surmount the derision and mistrust of the school after the fallout of the Fall Formal leading into the Battle of the Bands and how she has become almost an equal to Twilight (pony) as far as growth. Being a musician myself, Vinyl automatically ranks high. Rarity rose in the ranks after "Filli Vanilli" and seeing her diva-esque attitude get toned down as she tempers it with drive and ambition.

Flutters and AJ actually tie with me. I admire AJ's work ethic and how she aspires to be as good a friend/sister/boss she can be, but her hardline attitude on things can grate on people. Fluttershy's kindness and humility is refreshing for a hero to have especially since if her friends need her they can count on her without fail. And the STARE.

Twilight and SciTwi I enjoy because of the thirst for knowledge which I believe is a positive trait for anyone. Twilight being the audience proxy in season one has nothing really to do with it. Her being the allegory that anyone can become anything if they work hard enough is a positive message in and of itself. SciTwi still has growth to do, but she is very much in the Season one stage of Twilight growth.

...

With that being said, how the buck did she rate wings in Everfree but not Sunset? Seriously now.

Where are the equestria girls character? If you have sunset you should do the human ones too. (H) for human and (P) for pony.

That would be very difficult for me. The EG series is VERY tightly linked to the (hu)Mane six/7 post Friendship Games The only ones that stand out would be Flash Sentry and Vinyl Scratch, due to being key members of plots. But, to break down the EG cast as well, I'll do an edit in the post itself.

Some think two pinkies cross the portal a lot. If she is doing that could others do it too?

Between the tongue-in-cheek blooper scene from Friendship Games and the direct line from EverFree IIRC, Pinkie does have some cross-dimensional link.

And then there's that lake where she made a bunch of copies. So there's potential. But the others? I'm not sure. Pinkie pulls off a lot of things that the others wouldn't be able to.
