I just had a dream so intense that I need to write it down.....

Did you ever have a dream that was so intense that you thought it was real and everything you saw actually happened?

I just don't understand some people.....

I was only out to buy some simple things today. I had some change left and I went to a nearby park to give it to a homeless person. I couldn't find one and went back to the train station and mall where I started. A man was standing there in front of the entrance, with heavy luggage, a huge backpack and a big suitcase. He asked me for change and said he has no place to sleep. I was unsure about

    I miss these glorious Saturdays.....

I have seen this thread in the Crossover group about saturday morning cartoon openings (that's now deleted) in my feed and it triggered it..... The memory of the Saturdays when a new episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic aired. I miss these Saturdays..... Watching a new episode, waiting for an upload, downloading it, rewatching it 3 - 5 times, writing an analytical review of the episode

Selfishness has been my wrong motivator for the longest time..... and people don't see who I really am because of that.

A lot of people in the fandom don't understand who I am and think of me as a bad person. My friend sometimes does, too, and doesn't trust me anymore because of that. There have been moments when she literally asked me "Who are you?". I was always thinking this was stemming from trust issues that she developed because of events in her past and I was only marginally attributing the cause for this

My first Hearth's Warming Eve fic: "The Little Match-Filly", a pony adaptation of H.C. Andersen's "The Little Match-Girl" · 9:10pm Dec 20th, 2016

And the surprise project has launched..... And it's aiming directly for your feels!

This year, I have written my first Hearth's Warming Eve fic and since Season 6 just happened and also because of time reasons, I have decided to pick this one from my Hearth's Warming writing ideas, "The Little Match-Filly".
Ever since I've seen "A Hearth's Warming Tail" in May, I wanted to write a ponified version of H.C. Andersen's story "The Little Match-Girl".
A pony version that stays true to the original tale, but brings it to Equestria. And now, I have done it.

My goal with this ponified story was always to stay as true to the original as possible. Unlike other authors here, I did not want to loosely base an own version of the tale on it and alter a lot of things.
I rather wanted to adapt H.C. Andersen's writing style and carry it over into pony words, while only making some slight adjustments to make everything fit to Equestria, and expand on it a little to make it more unique and add a few of my own ideas, but without actually altering something of Andersen's vision, in order to maintain the integrity of his work.
It was not easy, but I think I succeeded.
If you read this story, expect a lot of archaic/classic words, spelling and stylistics, many of which will seem unfamiliar and alien to you, because stories are not really written in such a style anymore today. But I wanted to keep this exact style of Andersen and stay as close to his writing as possible, while still adding something original that is not in his story.
So even though a lot of sentences in this fic will feel weird to you, keep in mind that "The Little Match-Girl" is a very old story and that once, more than hundred years ago, this was the go-to writing style of literature.
It may also seem like writing this story was very easy for me, as I just had to add to the original tale, but I am not used to write like this and pulling off the style was very tricky and required a lot of preparation.
I read "The Little Match-Girl", searched for the best english translation among the many that exist, read it again, watched a lot of adaptations of it to get more feel for the story and hopefully receive some inspiration on how to expand the tale (one of which was even an episode of a very old Anime about fairy tales; japanese and without english subtitles), read it again, had to put down work on it for a few weeks, then read it a fourth time, I typed up the whole tale from the source I found and applied adjustments to make it fit to Equestria, read all of the three "Little Match Filly" fics that got already written here on FIMFiction.net before to not accidentally end up with the same or a similar idea, then I went over everything I've written, checked where I could add something naturally and then wrote those additions, while trying to imitate Andersen's writing style.
Then I read everything again and polished the whole story.....
It was a lot of work, even though it does not look like this when reading through it, and I'm proud of the result. I think it is a worthy pony adaptation of "The Little Match-Girl" and I dare to hope that H.C. Andersen would find it enjoyable too if he could read it.
And in the same way, I hope it will be to your enjoyment too and that you like this pony version of "The Little Match-Girl".
Drop me a comment, if you find yourself reading it, and tell me what you think about it and how much you think it holds ground in comparison to the original tale and to Andersen's writing style!

So, all that is left to say is, grab some cookies, grab some cocoa, and I wish you a pleasant read of "The Little Match-Filly" and while you read it, try to think of it that not everypony can sit in front of a warm computer (or an iron stove) and read while the cold winds of winter blow over the streets outside.....
