Anyone know what 'overly blunt emotions' means? · 11:15am Nov 15th, 2016
Got this from a pre-reader for EqD (Yes. I still submit for insight), and I got this as one of the drawbacks of my 'stories'. What does it mean, man? Does it mean I have to become one with the cosmos, maaaaan?
I'd assume (though I may be wrong) that the claim is you're trying to convey emotion too harshly. Something like a hopelessly sad/happy/etc scene with little warrant/lead into it.
Look for "Wham Episode" for examples of what I'm guessing they mean.

I haven't read the story, but that tends to mean you are telling the reader the emotions too directly. This leads back to "show, not tell," you don't want to just tell your reader that a character is feeling something, you want to convey it more subtly. The only thing that jumped out at me was you used a lot of dialogue to convey the emotion, but I'm no language major so don't base much from me. Someone who knows their way around writing and language to help would do you a lot of good.

IMHO you did fine, the reader simply saw what you wrote a little too strongly in his mind's eye.
