Some might wonder where the inspiration for my fic Friendly Fire came from, besides the obvious.
Well, a canon scene, actually.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Still, I haven't heard a lot of people theorize about this. Check out this scene of the Canterlot raid, and tell me this doesn't look familiar:

Fluttershy tackles Fluttershy changeling, AJ vs. AJ Changeling, Rarity vs. Rarity Changeling, Twilt vs. Twili, RD vs. RD, and then... RD vs. Pinkie Changeling?
Some might credit this to the side I'm thinking is the mane six actually being the changelings, but look at how they introduce the clip:
1, Intro Shot:
Mane Six <----(Wall in the background)----> Changelings
2, Leap Shot:
Mane Six <----(Blue background)----> Changelings
3, Clash Shot:
Mane Six <----(Same wall as Intro Shot in background)----> Changelings
And look at the false Pinkie's reaction to her attacker: at first, she's as mad as her fellows, and ready for action. Then, her opponent (RD) dives onto her when they're mostly attacking their mirrors, causing her some fright. Her face partially reads panic, as well as a little bit of "What are you doing?!".
Your thoughts?
Wow..... I never noticed this. Back then, when I watched the Season 2 Finale for the first time more than three years ago, I wasn't yet so attentive to the show that I analyzed it deeply. And this sort of got stuck in my brain, so I never did for the first two seasons.
The fact that I have barely watched any episodes from S1 - S3 since shortly before Season 4 started contributed to this too.
I'm jealous that I never noticed, but also happy to read this at the same time. I always thought I'm the only one who theorizes about such background details..... But now you're already the second one I meet since Season 6 started who does that too.

The interesting question here is also, what happened to Pinkie during that moment? Why wasn't she fighting that changeling that looked like her, but Thorax did it instead?
Maybe a changeling knocked her out right after she leaped at them together with the others and this was it what drove Thorax over the edge so much that he decided to attack his own people.

Indeed, or maybe she was just knocked to the side, as she pops back up moments later with her cannon.

Yep, that's what I meant. She was unconscious for a few moments and Thorax perhaps thought she's dead, so he was overwhelmed by rage and just reflexively jumped at that changeling for revenge.
The fandom can really need more people like you and that guy I met on Derpibooru. There's so little serious analyzing in the fandom.

Because in most of the fics I've seen her in: she's usually either underdeveloped, or portrayed as a... err... well, a slut. (Pardon my language)
I just thought she deserved a break, and some proper characterization.

I'm also glad you- like me -prefer to see them as siblings. I just didn't get a shipping vibe off of them in the show.
