    MLP: TNG

I'm a month late to this, but here's my take on MLP: TNG (or whatever we're calling it). I was underwhelmed the first time I watched it, but I gave it a second chance, and it started to grow on me. I think my mistake was watching Raya and the Last Dragon just a few days before the G5 movie. Both movies have similar themes and plots, but they handle them differently. More on that later.

    Revisiting the Final Season

A few months ago, I rewatched Season 9, and I liked it even better than the first time I saw it. There were still two episodes that I didn't care for: “3, 2, 1, Greaaat” and “Trivial Pursuit.” With both of those episodes, I went into them with the mindset that I would skip to the next episode when they started to annoy me. I only made it a few minutes into each episode.

    Bereavement

It's been awhile since I've posted any updates. Things happened one after another to make me lose interest in multicolored ponies. First the show ended, and then real world problems started happening. Then came the worst case scenario – I lost my father in February of this year.

    Random update

I haven't been on this site as much as I use to because of real life distractions. Not all of the distractions have been good, but the good ones are truly amazing.

Pony Life is a regression to Season One

Maybe it's just because the MLP stop-motion shorts lowered my expectations, but so far I think Pony Life is okay. I wouldn't call it good, but at least it doesn't directly insult older fans the way Thundercats Roar does (or so I've heard). I enjoy Pony Life's animation style enough to recommend watching five minutes of it. Plus, there is actual dialog spoken by the same VA's from FiM, and they

Earth Ponies Are Overpowered sequel progress · 4:09am Oct 15th, 2016

First, the new title and summary:

Earth Ponies for Life- Ever since Twilight started learning about earth pony magic, she's been itching to practice it. She gets more than she bargained for when the Everfree forest starts growing into Ponyville. One day everything is normal, and the next day trees are blocking streets and bursting through buildings. Timberwolves and cockatrices are prowling through the neighborhoods, scaring the townsfolk out of their wits. Twilight will have to rely on her new earth skills to find the cause of the problem and save Ponyville yet again.

The old title and summary, for comparison:

The Fourth Tribe or Crystal Ponies Are Overpowered – Everypony talks about the “three pony tribes,” but there are more than three tribes. The fourth tribe has more differences than just their crystal appearance. Twilight and her friends are about to learn about those differences in the worst possible way.

The explanation (with slight spoilers):

I want the sequel to be a bit more plot-focused, and I'm introducing a villain. At first I was going to use Abacus Cinch's Equestrian counterpart, who would be a Crystal Earth Pony. I got as far as writing an outline and a few introductory paragraphs. Then I watched “Legend of Everfree” and threw that out the window, because GD Gloriosa Daisy is a far superior character. And obviously she would be an overpowered earth pony in Equestria. I see her as the Starlight Glimmer of earth ponies, at least when it comes to magic abilities.

Anyway, I rewrote the outline and I'll try to start writing the actual first chapter soon. So, no more Crystal Ponies – it's just earth ponies now. I'm sorry to any of you who were looking forward to Crystal Pony world-building. I guess I could put the old summary and outline on the back burner as an idea for a third story in the series, depending on how the second one goes.

the new story seems as though it has a bit of an easy end...
life drain the plants, the timberwolves, and the cockatrices..

The initial premise was intriguing. This new premise is downright captivating. Looking forward to this new story! :pinkiehappy:

Hmm. Gloriosa's human counterpart did have outside assistance in the form of the crystals. Not sure how OP she'd be without enhancement. Of course, that's up to you. Sounds like this will make for a really cool story. And you can always have Crystal Ponies Are Overpowered be the third in the series.

4256635 Twilight's human counterpart didn't have any magic until she had outside enhancement either, so I don't think we can say one way or the other how strong pony Gloriosa's magic would normally be without assistance. Still, I'll give it some thought.
