So when this episode aired a while ago (how do I always get so behind on these things), I had quite a few people comment on Twilight Sparkle Becomes a Changeling Queen how well I'd done in avoiding canonbombs. However, viewing the story from my perspective, I did see a few things that are technically canon that will have to be ignored, and a couple things that did get added.
Changeling reproduction:
Chrysalis was there in the hatching room. I feel like this one can go either way; nothing was really proven. In-story changelings still reproduce on their own, and the queen is not the only fertile changeling.
Changelings hatch into a larva stage:
Added because they're dang cute like that. Now it goes egg -> larva -> nymph -> adult. Like many bugs.
Eggs grouped in one big hatching chamber called a nursery hive:
Added and justified (mostly).
Queen present for multiple hatchings / mass hatching:
Probs going to be ignored, tbh. She just happened to be there at the time they hatched. That's all. Sheer coincidence. 
Changelings can't feed on ambient love:
Already contradicted in story.
Changelings intelligible in changeling form
Already contradicted (and justified) in-story.
Changelings into inanimate objects
I hadn't really considered this, tbh; but in-story changelings do have a lot of control over their transformations (dependent on the amount of love they have to burn) so I'm considering this canon. Not sure when it's going to make an appearance, but I do want to use this.
Changelings in the crystal empire
Bah. I'm not changing anything.
And the funny part is, none of this is even going to matter because I have heard rumors that changelings will make a return this season and that will probably torpedo the rest of my headcanon but I will remain strong and hold off putting on that alt. universe tag for as long as I can .
So yeah.

I'm going to keep saying this everywhere I can. I don't believe canon has to affect fan fiction, because it's fan fiction. If you were writing an episode sure, but you're not. That being said, change (or don't) whatever things you like and/or think will work with the story you want to tell.
Eh, canon should never get in the way of a good story.
