    [Humility] Unlocking the Unfinished Experiment

Well, I wasn't able to keep my promise. I began work on Humility's updated version, made some nice headway on it, and then...just...so much happened. But I'm not going to echo the same excuses. Stuff happened, and Humility sat incomplete, and...I keep thinking about it and feeling like I left part of my best work unfinished. I suppose that's true.

    [Ikusa] Original Novel

Not sure if this'll reach many people but I figure it's worth a shot. Hi! I know that a long, loooooong time ago, I was sharing some details on my game project. It started here, but continued in different ways and for

    Fullmetal Pony Resources

Seems I can't do anything right the first time. Well, here's the in-progress collection to every single resource, note, draft, scrap, and plan I had for FMP. This is everything except the private messages between me and Twilight Is The BEST. And even now I'm still not done cleaning and formatting all of the documents in it.

Voice Acting: Highlight Reel for Karasutengu

I was recently cast in a fandub for Inverted Crown Productions, in the role of Karasutengu, the villain. I got permission from the project director to make a reel of my performance, and it took me all afternoon to get it hosted properly. So:

    A Couple'a Silly Prompts

I asked my buddies in a Discord server to give me some writing prompts because I wanted to create without rules. They came up with two, and they seemed to like 'em. So, I'm gonna share them here too.

A prompt about that humpback whale found in the rainforest.

    And...

[IK~W/FMP] Book Help and Updates · 11:16pm Sep 11th, 2016

There's a small issue I've had for the longest time that I'm hoping any of you fine folks can help me with.

In my game project, there are plenty of bookshelves and journals scattered throughout the playable world. I personally love it when I come across a brief snippet of world-building, a personal diary, or an easter egg hidden among the books and terminals of modern games, and I strive to do the same. However...between working on the game and other less-malleable projects I take on, it's very difficult to come up with a quick book to have a player read. On my own, I've come up with about twenty-five unique books that can repeat across the shelves in Ikusa, and while it's a nice starting point, it's less than half of where I'd want to be.

Maybe you'd like to help with that? I need ideas. Simple ideas that I can turn into quick, 100-word bites to fill even more bookshelves in this world. Or, hey, if you have a fully-formed idea for a super-short story, I wouldn't reject it. I don't want to rely too heavily on the same list I have now, and it's proving to be a difficult task to come up with even more on my own. I mean, I have a lot of things that range from world-building to silly for silliness' sake, but I come up with a new book idea maybe once every three hours of mapping time. That's not enough for the maps I plan to make.

Does anyone feel like helping an author out? Feel free to pass along ideas for in-game books, or write one out on your own! Anyone who helps out will have a credit placed next to the book title, so you can even get creative with your name if you wish!
Or just go all Nonny on me.

Otherwise, I am also staying busy by getting back into Fullmetal Pony work. I managed to plug in another couple hundred words in a dialogue scene (using the lessons I learned in Talking is Hard), so once i draft it out I can add detail and move on to the next task! For the record, I'm still working over the first major crisis within chapter three, which will conclude the backstory and allow me to progress into the next part of the present-day drama.

I've also got a short list of noteworthy users who have volunteered (at last!) to take the spots of pre-readers for the project. I'm going to keep that list close for the time being, but with good timing and the extra sets of talent, I hope to make better and better chapters for this project going forward. Can you guess what to expect? Me neither; this project continued to impress and surprise me!

That's it for now. See you guys in the next one!

~Leo

*Note: This blog post was meant to go up two days ago, on the 9th. However, difficulties in a website I help run kept me from doing so. While I do not wish to go into details over the trouble there, I can say that I'm effectively leaving that site due to unwelcome changes. I'm not happy about it - in fact, I've been struggling not to go completely depressed - but I'm coping as best I can.

How about a book about an author being stalked by a monster spawned by his own imagination (the book is unfinished/ ends with the beast about to strike)?

4207308 I love it!

4207308 Here's part one in a (planned) six-part series:

His name was Deril, and he was in peril. For weeks now, a strange monster had been stalking Deril as he went through his daily routine. Daril gave the monster a name: Sig Fiend the Big Thing.
One day, Deril decided enough was enough. He packed all of his treasures, hired a cart, and left his home in order to get away from Sig Fiend. He left in the middle of the day, confident the light would keep him safe.
He was right, up until his cart's driver passed out while en route to the next town. Deril tried to awaken him: "Please, friend! We must keep moving! The day is nearly done, and I am not yet gone!"
The driver remained asleep, unnaturally. So Deril took his place in his seat and snapped the reins to move on. He left behind his home and the poor driver, eager to put distance between himself and the Big Thing.
Unknown to him, Sig Fiend was following, and soon came across the sleeping body of the driver. As night fell, other carts went down the same road, but none would see the driver...for the driver had been taken!

Figure I'd go silly on this one, since so many other books are serious. (Also I'm still mildly buzzed from earlier, so blame it on the al-al-al-al-al-al-co-hol.)

Here's another idea:

A band of people enter a wood with ill intent (they're illegal loggers or poachers or some-such) but this forest is the Dragonwood and they have offended its guardian. Said guardian is a mighty bronze dragon named Vorash and she has a mischievous side. She begins by playing pranks on the interlopers while hiding in animal-form, but if they fail to take the hint, things are likely to escalate.
