Fun, True Story: My impact on the Mexican Olympic Football/Soccer Team (I CAN EXPLAIN!) · 1:09am Sep 8th, 2016
Oops, I did it again. Well, if you read my blogs, this might sound familiar. During the Football/Soccer portion of the 2016 Summer Olympics, Mexico entered as the defending Gold Medal champion, having won gold at the 2012 Olympics. After Mexico's professional team suffered a very humiliating defeat at the hands of Chile (yeah, that one ), Mexico focused on trying to defend their gold title to make up for their loss, and well...I stepped in. Twice. (Wait, hear me out! It's not exactly what you think!)
Like most other sports, I didn't really watch the Olympics (Except for Usain Bolt. That guy is fast ). Heck, my family didn't even invite me to watch with them (Hehe...I wonder why?). But as fate would have it, I just happened to walk by when my family was watching their team play. They were watching in the living room. It was inevitable.
Now, it all started on August 7. I had just finished getting ready for church and walked to the living room to see what my family was doing. Turns out, they were watching Mexico vs Fiji, and Mexico was losing 0-1 when I walked by. If you know me, you know I don't really care about most sports, but even I knew Mexico was the defending champion. To see them losing after what I did the last time I knew they were playing, I actually felt bad. I turned around to my family and said "I actually wish Mexico would win this one." I left and when I came back, lo and behold, Mexico had made a comeback to win 5-1.
At first, I was surprised. I did it again, I thought. However, my dad just chalked it up by telling me it was just because it was Fiji's first time participating in the Olympics. He said I had nothing to do with it. Perhaps I shouldn't have believed him.
Three days later, on August 10, I had just arrived from a day at the university to see my brother sitting at the kitchen table, watching Mexico vs South Korea with a score of 0-0. My brother was supposed to be doing his homework, but he was fixated on the game (He's a big fan). I told him to do his homework and he said "No." You see, my brother has a bit of an attitude problem. I tried to be reasonable with him, but he kept refusing. Now, I was in a hurry; I had some homework to do myself, and I had to do it fast because I had to do something later that day. As a last resort to get him to do his homework, I said "You better do your homework, or I'll wish for Mexico to lose this game." He shrugged it off and said I can't do anything. At that, I made my promised wish and left. I did my homework, finished, and began to leave for other appointment. As I walked by the TV, I saw that South Korea had defeated Mexico 1-0. Mexico, the defending champions, did not even medal this time. (Well...at least I didn't say "Terribly" this time.)
Again, I apologize. I just don't know what to say. Maybe I should really just stay away from sport (apart from playing it for fun), but I can't promise that. The temptation of gambling money is too great. KIDDING! Just kidding. I'll just wish for a fair game from now on .
that's some scary powers you got there
Honestly it's all coincidence. I know a few people that will dress a certain way, and do funny little rituals in the hopes of their team winning. Why do they do this you may ask?
Simple enough really, their teams were on losing streaks and after doing certain things before the first winning game from so long. They believe it has to be something they have on or did, so rather than take a chance they do everything they can in the hopes their team wins.
But in truth Griffin from the third MIB movie said it best. A miracle is something that seems impossible, but happens anyway.
Simply put, something was just right for the other team causing Mexico the lose. Random little tidbits here and there causing the overall out come. Or as I like to say, the tiniest of possibilities that have the greatest of impacts.

4197964 Eh, fun to dream right?
4198012 Perhaps but maybe it's best I let life move forward on its own. People should decide their own fates, not me. BTW, another cute avatar pic? Nice!
4198008 Always is. Because dreams are were miracles start.
